Why are pre-owned Chanel so expensive on Farfetch?

I was watching the UK YouTuber, FleurDeForce's new video about buying pre-loved Chanel on Farfetch. I had a look and was shocked at the prices! A square mini at £5k and medium (?) CF at £10k!!! They look like they are in immaculate condition but will people pay these prices for pre-loved? And I wonder why they are so expensive

Not just the case for Chanel Their preloved prices are inflated (which is why they’ve done such a massive push via influencers I guess). At some point all of them purchased preloved items on Farfetch. There are far better options out there.

Their prices are SUPER inflated... I agree, there are many options out there. I am still shocked at their ridiculous pricing strategy for pre-loved items.

Agree absolutely crazy prices how can 20 year old used bag could be more expensive then new from Chanel boutique

I know! It's absolutely ridiculous, bags for 8,000 dollars plus. It says it's import duties included but it's not THAT absurd with customs! I had heard something about Chanel working with Farfetch to sell pre-loved? Read about it in a post here about when Chanel sued WGACA. There was speculation that they were trying to "control" the pre-loved market by kind of monopolizing it? I have no idea! Either way, I have spotted the exact same bags listed on farfetch's website (serial no. and all) in Japan consignment stores...

I have never heard that but it's definitely interesting. I think Farfetch works with many independent boutiques around the world, perhaps they charge a lot of commission hence the super high prices?
