How do you feel about the leather. I ordered the 24 in purple and thought the leather felt a bit cheap. I'm waiting for my 32 and 33 to arrive to see if there is a difference.

So I "slept on it". I had the Rhyder sitting on my dresser next to my gold Phoebe. This morning I picked up both bags. The phoebe leather feels soft, substantial, thick, and luxe. I then reached for the Rhyder. The leather is thin, dry, not nearly as soft... I was not wowed.

With these prices and no PCE, a new bag has to be something I can't live without. The style of the Rhyder is good, and the color is perfect, but the materials feel, I'm sorry, cheap. And how in the world is this a $495 bag while my gorgeous gold Phoebe was $358??

Alas it will go back and I won't buy Coach sight unseen anymore. I need to be able to touch and hold before I commit.

Oh yikes! Sorry to hear that Jane. Several others have made the same comment. I feel the same, cannot spend that much on a bag unless I am "cut the tags off in the car" about it.

I hear ya girl!

I had the EXACT same feeling on the 24. Even the Coach sales manager was shocked about the feeling of the leather. Coach you cannot charge 650.00 for a china made bag that feels like pleather.

I'm so sorry this ultimately didn't work out for you. it sure is a gorgeous bag, BUT I'm right there with you about the leather quality thing. I haven't seen or touched the new styles yet, but I did see, in Dillard's, a couple of those new turnlock shoulder bags.....the brick colored one to be specific, and the leather felt thin and the turnlock wasn't heavy or substantial feeling. It seemed almost like hard plastic or something. I was disappointed. I'm like you; no matter how pretty the color/style, if the leather doesn't meet my expectations, in the end it's a no-go.

I just packed up my Rhyder 33 to return it for the same reasons. The leather is thin, plastic feeling and very cheap looking. The gunmetal did NOT look like a $650 bag. It is being returned immediately.

Yeah. I just don't get it. They are RAISING prices, yet... lowering quality?? WTF. And I know what good leather is supposed to feel like. At the top end are my Bottega Venetas -- they are impeccable. I also have a MBMJ pebbled leather bag which is really really nice (though thick leather does = weight!! but worth it when I don't overload my bags). I have a couple of old school Rebecca Minkoffs with supersoft glazed leather. I really don't know what Coach was going for here. A bag that looks great in photos but feels... not great!
