So sorry to hear about your unfortunate experience. May I know if this is Reebonz in Singapore? I would strongly encourage folks who bought their Hermes from secondary markets to get authentication from Bababebi.. For a fraction of the price, you get a piece of mind and can sleep soundly. I bought my Hermes bags from secondary market and no matter how 'reputable' they state that they are, I will still pay for a Bababebi authentication... still dreaming of getting a bag from Hermes store. Thank you so much for sharing.

Hi, I bought it off reebonz online and not at a physical store. I don't have experience with Hermes so not sure who is Bababebi but without being rude to them, given my experience I would only trust something is authentic based on Hermes feedback because that is the only guarantee. I'm just really embarrassed now but nothing I can do about it. To their credit, Hermes has been handling it very professionally.

Can you share the letter from Hermes or the Reebonz listing of the bag you bought?

Happy to, I've only got an email from Hermes but once I get the letter I am happy to post it. They are actually giving me a physical letter. As for the Reebonz listing, it's not there anymore as I bought this bag several months ago. Once I get the refund (which I'm optimistic about) I will definitely post the whole story up.

I'm really surprised there isn't a sticky thread with these stories so we can all learn and protect each other but I'm happy to share the whole scenario once the refund is processed.

Thank you for replying. Don't be embarrassed, you are an innocent party as well. I just hope you get your money back and get the bag that you want soon. Hugs to you.

I didn't see a regular thread for this but perhaps there should be a sticky thread for people to share their experiences of being duped so that others can learn from their experiences.

I bought an hermes birkin bag from Reebonz who I thought was a well reputed store but to be doubly sure I sent it into hermes for a repair and after many months hermes emailed stating that it fake. Well their wording is 'it's not made by Hermes Paris' and they have confiscated the bag but will be forwarding a letter of some sort explaining the situation to me.

So to all out there, be careful when purchasing because even ostensibly 'well reputed' stores sell fakes so always send your stuff into the actual sttore if you can to authenticate!

Very, very sorry for you, this is everyone's nightmare and I hope the situation resolves totally satisfactorily for you.

What I learned by glancing at their site is they are all about selling and selling, more and more. Firstly, rewards and coupons like a 5 'n' dime is a standard business model for some sectors but it doesn't promote faith or trust selling rare luxury goods. There is something an 'Affiliate Program' with very little information about it before getting someone to sign up. My judgement of the operation is their Web presence and connected technical know-how is far in advance of their expertise in the products they're trading. All alarm bells for me.

Regards Daikokuya, they've a good long standing reputation. I've bought from them and am very happy with my purchase (though I've never bought anything preloved and high value that I couldn't inspect physically). However, I have seen fake items in their London store, so for your peace of mind I'd get professional, independent paid for authentication for your other B too. Even though I believe we have the most expert authenticators on planet H, authentication via tPF can only be treated as a guide or a first step. Only paid for authentication from a business service can provide legal redress (if needed).

The other thing I noticed when looking at H items is that many are described incorrectly even if authentic. HACs are described as Bs and there is mis-information on colours and leathers.

I think there's real cheek in Reebonz' reading you their auto-response 'we only sell authentic blah'. Total salt into the wounds. However they say:

"...All pre-owned items are guaranteed authentic before any item is listed on the website or physical stores. Certifications will be provided for the following items*:

  • Certification for bags and leather goods: Hermès Kelly and Hermès Birkin only"
If you have certification from them for your fake B and a letter from H indicating your fake B will have to be confiscated (it will be destroyed) their assurances and certification mean NOTHING. What does that say about non-K or B items they don't 'certificate'? Evidence from their own site suggests they seem totally unconcerned by what they're selling.

unfortunately, i don't have any personal photos of the bag as I bought it from reebonz and then took it to hermes for repair and they have confiscated. i am by no means an expert on hermes but i thought it was a good sign when the SA took it in for repair but perhaps birkins are so rare that even SAs might miss spotting a fake. unfortunately, i did attempt to get it authenticated here at PF but because i'm not a very active member i wasn't within the rules to get an authentication which is fair enough i guess
I don't see a request from you in the authentication forum. Was it deleted for some reason?

Given that Reebonz guarantees authenticity you should receive your money back but this is definitely a cautionary tale.

Editing to add: I believe the reason we do not have a sticky around counterfeit scams is that we do not discuss details of authenticity here, and it would probably be a bear to moderate and avoid discussion of such details.

I'm a little surprised you don't have any pictures of the bag or a link to the auction. Didn't you keep a track of your purchase ? I sent some bags for repair and always kept pictures of "before".
The SA at Hermès didn't see the bag is fake ? The SM sent the bag and didn't see it was fake ?
I hope your story is for real, but I have big doubts.

i totally agree but after a trip to paris last year and going 3 days consecutively to the flagship store we didn't have any luck in getting a birkin
i now worry about whether my partner's other birkin (which i bought from a daikokuya store in Japan) is real
I have heard of this store, but was not brave enough to buy from them. Hope you get this suitation sorted out, good luck!

I read this this morning, BC (before caffeine) and again PC, and something seems...wrong. Like there’s some details missing, or omitted. My spidey sense is telling me that there’s more to the story than we have been told. I, with no intention of shade or disrespect to the OP, simply find it difficult to believe that they have no photographic evidence of the bag or a link to the sale. Maybe I’m neurotic, or paranoid, but I screenshot that stuff and put it in a file. Something doesn’t feel right about this one...

I share your opinion and I'm surprised that anybody can accuse without a proof on a public forum.

I also think something is off with the story.

When someone asked for photos, OP said she doesn’t have any (weird and hard to believe)

When someone asked for the listing in Reebonz, she said it doesn’t exist anymore

When someone asked to share the Hermes response, she said she got an email but will only post the actual letter she has yet to get from Hermes

Hmmm...
