Hi, Yes, I am rough with my stuff, so this watch has been busted twice! I dropped it once on a tile floor in a hotel room, and it stopped running. The cost was about $1K. My top pusher also came off recently (just a few months ago), so I sent it in for repair and took the time to do a full refurb. The pusher was about $500.00 and the full maintainence was a little over $1K. The full maintenance was amazing. They open up the watch fully, tear it all apart, clean it, put it back together and resynch it. They also gave me a new sapphire crystal and cleaned up the stainless. My watch came back looking new and honestly, I am really rough on my watches (my husband says I torture my poor little Daytona).
On the gold Daytona, I love a clean white face. Gold with a gold dial is too hard to read, gold with a black dial is a bit too manly for me, but gold with a white dial is so beautiful and clean to me. The other combos like MOP, green, panda... they are to busy in my opinion.
One other thought... I only get my Rolex serviced directly from Rolex. I actually send the watch in directly to NYC myself. I do not go through an authorized dealer and here is why. First, I read a lot of stories where the retailer is an authorized Rolex dealer. Yes, this means they can do repairs, but it does not mean they only genuine Rolex parts. I did not think much of it until one time I sent in my Rolex DateJust to be repaired. A marker on my dial fell off...told you... I am rough on my watches! How many people have dial markers fall off!
Anyway, I brought it back to my retail store where I purchased the watch and asked that they send it in to Rolex as I only wanted Rolex to service it, not an "authorized dealer". They said no problem. I received the watch back with the new dial but it seemed off to me. So, I decided to call Rolex NYC myself and ask about the dial. They told me.. "ma'am, we did not service your watch". I was shocked. I called the retail store and told them they lied when they told me they sent it in to Rolex. They told me they are an authorized dealer which I knew, but I had specifically asked for them to send it to Rolex. Good thing for me, I had them write in my service papers "Send directly to Rolex NYC, do not service in house". They apologized and said they would send it to Rolex and have Rolex install a new dial. I told them no, because now my watch has a history of being serviced by you (all services are logged), and I want my watch to have a history of service directly from Rolex. I was so mad... I asked for a new watch because they couldn't even get the dial right, so I felt they had tampered with the watch. Surprisingly, they said yes and gave me a brand new watch.
Moral of the story.. send it yourself to Rolex. Every time your watch is serviced, it is logged by Rolex so you want to do it right (in case you sell it). It only costs like $25.00 or so... call Rolex directly and they will send you a kit to mail your watch. I have done this with all my Rolexes. It's a great service!
