I hate to admit I have a bit too many Asian themed silks. So here's my pile and maybe we should play the name that scarf quiz while we're at it. I bet you will all know their names by now...! And one that came home with me of the new collection too. I think Pierina and Ladyb have both influenced me towards the cool tones lately. No idea why that is. Suffice to say I do adore the blues these past few seasons, of course combined with those pops of red, yellow and oranges. Bateaux by Honore. I think I may have more of her shawls than any other artist. This one reminds me of the tropics and is my first nautical themed GM. My early VDay gift. More comments later silk friends!

Dear lanit, thanks for sharing your wonderful collection of Asian themed scarves with us. I especially love your Soies Volantes! And congratulations on your new blue Bateaux! :smile1:

Hi D!
You are collecting BEAUTIFUL scarves that you will cherish for years to come! It really is fun seeing which new beauties the seasons bring! I love everything you have posted! You are off to an amazing start.

Is the Fleurs de Indiennes a 140cm silk or the 90cm? I bought my 90cm version two years ago, so if you do find a 90cm of this in your boutique, you should try it on. It's an incredible pattern. A bit busy, but I like busy! ;) The colorway of mine is variations of green/turquoise with ultra violet background. It is one of my very favorites. I wish I had picked up the khaki version as well. (MaiTai has this one on her blog. Gorgeous.) I also missed out on the 140cm which came out a full year ago. A/W 2011, I think. Several of our lovely tpf members have this. Off of the top of my head, I know that textilegilr and lanit have the 140. I remember that there was a beautiful red/yellow one and also a blue/green one. It is a tad bit heavier in weight than the summer silk twill. I believe this 140 is called washed silk.

If you have found a FdI, I would say YES. You won't regret it. :D Since this pattern was a new design, it may not be reissued for some time. It would be great if it was since it really was a good selling design. I wonder if it will ever be issued as a GM cashmere/silk shawl or heaven help me, a 140 mousseline. I would be jumping for joy over that!
Thx for your advice & compliments , LB! The fleur de Indiennes I saw was the 140 silk. As I mentioned before, I really have reservations wearing a long flowing scarf in the crowded subway. But it is too beautiful to pass. Still losing sleep over it. Wondering if H would issue it in the 90 format in the near future. If so, would buy it at a heartbeat!

jp, some of the girls around here relish the idea of wearing an H silk or GM on a $20.00 Tar-get find. Love it. You are amonst friends our friend...

Ladies, I went shopping last week and get this, drum roll--Textile, are you out there my Escandar wearingfriend....I spent FULL PRICE on a white blouce that cost MORE than an Hermes silk! I know, I know....Crazy. So funny. I laughed thinking, I will pay $410.00 for a scarf that I "might" not need, but won't pay $600.00 for a shirt that will be a staple for ten years??

froufrou: I always come away from your commentary knowing a bit more about silk. I love your eye...keep teaching me honey!!

Hermesick: your new avatar is fabulous. I love the texture and color contrast of milky complexion, blond hair, rouge top...nice nice

Seton: your skin and smile are beautiful and welcoming....If you are like I am, I look too closely in the mirror....who gets that close for goodness sake?

awww...thank you Sparklelisab !

We are on same page LOL :) when it comes to scarf purchase, I have never the slightest regrets BUT when I buy something else I start to calculate.
Maedi, Ladybaga, Seton, IF and Lanit - thank you for your kind words !

IF - your two Marwari GM's are TDF !

I know... We're crazy right? I won't think twice about an H anything, be it scarf, shawl, bracelets, bag... But would think real hard about making a purchase in that amount for anything else! Lol ;)

Gotta give the credit for Red Dot Boutique to our dear, jp. I am calling Target that now as well! Sweetest Sparkle, I am sorry you are fluin'. Please stay in bed, rest, and eat some jello. Hope you feel better, soon!:smile1:

And I must credit my co-worker/friend... Her and her friends call it that. :). I've always said "Tar-gét" (like filet) until now :)

Please forgive me that I am not Asia themed but I would like to dedicate this post to Israeli_Flava - thank you for your inspiring posts about CSMC - and voila here is mine ....I'm aware that my presentation is not as beautiful as yours (well, for this I would need such a beautiful hair and skin tone) but still, I am soooooo happy that I bought it !

Thank you for all your kind comments Ladybaga , Etoile and Seton ! Seton - your collection is beautiful and I agree with Ladybaga- your skintone is perfect !

Dear Hermesick, you look lovely in your blue CSMC! Congratulations on adding a blue beauty to your collection.

Thanks for posting all the Asian scarves, seton. Wasn't it kind of fun once you got going? And a testament to your consistent selection that all of them worked with only 2 sweaters. The Sichuan cashmere is especially lovely in soft colors. Many of the older color palettes seem more harmonious, more natural. Guess it was a phase that has come and gone?

Fun? Heck, no. That was work, yo. Dont know how u do it, pierina. :worthy:
Youre right about colors being less natural. The last reissue of Sichuan in 2010 was pretty nice but u still can see the difference if u compare the original black colorway in 1995 to the 2010 black cw.

I'll post both below.

What color is the 140? (Just curious) In all seriousness, you should do what your heart tells you to do. If you are having reservations, perhaps you should pass. On the other hand, if you wear your Equator a lot and love the size, it would be a lovely addition to your collection. Sorry I am of no help!

seton, I love the differences in your two Sichuan scarves! (My fave, I have to say if your 1995 version. Those colors sparkle!):smile1:

Oh my GOSH!! I am doped up with every flu medicince I could buy so I know that is the reason I cannot spell today (Please forgive me my silkie friends.) but as I lie here sick in bed, I am choking, coughing in laughter. Sick was never so much fun.

Red Dot Boutique! Classic!

Sending 'get well soon' wishes, sparkle! I prescribe lots of chicken soup, hot liquids, and lots of time on tpf! ;)

A lot of times we newbies just don't know what questions to ask in our decision-making process. Your mention of the frequency of use just helped me decide. Suddenly I also remember u mentioned in your posts that u wouldn't be wearing scarves if it rains! So what do u think my frequency of wear would be when it rains VERY regularly from Mar to Oct. in the sub-tropics where I live? And NONE of my umbrellas are big enough to shade my 140 scarf which practically runs down to my knees!

It was a very pretty cw, but I didn't know the cw number. I guess I would pass it this time & pray to God that it would be reissued as a 90. As a side remark, I am not wearing my Equateur a lot as this is my most expensive scarf to date & I will take it out only for special occasions, eg the comimg Chinese New Year celebrations! Thx for your advice which helps me made my final decision. No more sleepless nights!:graucho:
