Yummy!!Bet the wait is killing you!!! But it will look fab and soooooooo worth the wait!!!
Another interesting point, when your watch comes back it may not keep as good time as it did before,as they are always re-set to the chronometer standard, don't panic though, just keep an eye on how much it is losing or gaining, take it back, tell your jeweller, and it will be re-set to your paticular wearing style,it won't take as long as the original service etc. Both of mine had to be re-set when I got them, its just everyone is slightly different and the watch responds diffrently to different wearers, some do some don't.Its not an uncommon thing.(I quite liked it actually, rather like having a luxury bespoke suit or something!!!)

:wtf: You're kidding??? They didn't tell me this bit of info. Since my 2 year warranty expired last month, the service center will also do a routine service prior to releasing the watch back to me. They will also keep the original dial. Thx for the info., as I'll be keeping a close tab on my watch.

They probably did'nt tell you as it does'nt happen with every watch, but I have had it crop up a couple of times with clients of mine,so I thought a little bit of a heads up before you get it back and it does happen may make you a lot less panicky if it does!
But I tell you what, its just alarmed me a bit that they said they are going to keep your original dial, thats yours bought and paid for with the original sale,if you are buying another dial, you should get your old one back, especially if you have'nt done a deal with your retailer to reduce the cost if they keep your old dial. Whenever I had a dial changed in a clients watch the old dial would come back with it,as it is legally thiers with the original sale, also, when I had the bezel changed in my GMT from blue and red to all black, the other bezel came back too.

chaz your GMT is TDF!!!
Thank you, thats so lovely of you to say,I must admit though,I was originally inspired by a girl who wore a Submariner,I thought it just looked the coolest thing on her that I could'nt resist copying her! But I did try to have manners enough to do it with a different model! And I have to say that since I was lucky enough to get it,I love it so much I have never stopped wearing it!!xxxx

ooh, just put your mind at rest over the time keeping thing,I've also had it happen with new sale Rolex's(but I have to say I always warned my clients it was a possibility, mainly so I would'nt get an irate client back in a week shouting at me because they were unaware of this and calling the watch crap!!It happens to approx every 1 in 20 watches but is by no means a fault with the watch or the servicing) I am also just about to call a Rolex technician I know about this dial situation for you as i'm sure you should get it back.As soon as I have an answer I'll post it on here for you.xxxx

ok,Burberry Princess, this is the info I promised I would get back to you with!!! My freind the Rolex tech says that all parts are on an exchange basis, and this stops independant techs keeping lots of dials squirreled away that Rolex can re-furbish and re-use and keep their stock levels heathly. This goes someway to keeping the costs to you down and giving you back a dial you won't use again. The store I used to work in had our own Rolex tech and we would give dials back, which is actually pointless and more expensive to the customer so the info I have just been given actually makes much more sense to you the customer. Sorry for any panic this is now standard practice hope you love your new dial and post some pics when it is all done!!!XXXX

I agree with burberry princess, Rolex is a classic. I was looking around for a Rolex last year and came across their new collection, dome bezel with oyster bracelet.

In the end, I decided for the iconic fluted bezel with Rolesor bracelet because I think it is classic and will not look dated even when I am in my 50s. SA is surprised that I would go for fluted bezel with jubilee bracelet due to my age.

Prefer the yellow gold instead of the new rose gold purely of 2 things,
i) yellow gold matches my skin tone better
ii) rose gold has more copper than silver. Silver costs more than copper. Moreover rose gold may look nice now but it will be dated.

Have you eyed anything so far? My suggestion is see as many models as possible and see which suits you. Good luck. :smile1:

I think any Rolex watch will be classy and appropriate for you. I am in my 40's also and I warn you to choose a watch with a clear contrast between the face and the hands. I had to sell my ROlex because it had a gold face and gold hands and my eyes could not focus to tell the time. I wish I had chosen a white face and black hands, or dark face and silver hands.

That's so true. When my mom was in her mid 40s, she had problem seeing the time. Hers was a light face with gold dials. She later changed to black dial with diamond markers for better visibility.

You know, you can always change the dial later, like what my mom did on hers and what I plan to do with mine. That's the thrill of owning a Rolex...you can always change the dial to suit your needs without paying a fortune for another watch.

If you don't mind me asking - how much was it to change the dial ?

I am having a dilemma picking out a colour for the dial, I'm torn between a light colour (peach, silver) and a dark blue. But hey, if it's not too bad to get them switched, I might just go for the light and then go for the dark later on !
