You can purchase a water repellent to spray on your bag before you carry it. regular use of a leather conditioner, i.e., Apple or Cadillac can also keep a bag protected. there are some links to threads up in the Reference section about how to keep your bag protected (http://forum.purseblog.com/marc-jacobs/marc-jacobs-faqs-460169.html)
there was actually a thread created a while ago about MJ bags that hold well in the rain
Ah thanks, didn't mean to double-post. I've sprayed my bags with apple repellent but have been afraid to test it in the elements, I suppose. Thanks again
there's very few mj bags i own that i'd be afraid to carry in the rain. the leather's that durable. the soft calf bags hold up the best though. i'll usually bust out the large mp's just so i can throw it over my shoulder and keep my hands free for the umbrella.
I used stain/water repellant on all my bag before i take them out. So far all of Mj bags are doing great. MJ leather is durable for the most part, better than some other brands, IMO
