Which is the softest leather you've ever "felt"?

If you you know she likes Furla, that would the best place to start ;)

In my collection I would say my vintage lamb Chanels, grab bag and BVs are very, very soft but also very fine, whereas chevre (goat skin) on my latest BV hobo is soft, thick and undulating and then again my Hermes Swift feels like velvet.

Thanks papertiger and thank you all! You're amazing.

So, seems everyone agrees lambskin is the softest but also very delicate. I'm not sure if this leather could be a great choice for a big bag (so not clutches, but totes or hobo, since this is the bag I would like to design for my lady). Also goatskin, being thicker, and given that BV uses it for hobos, could be my choice.

I've read Prada uses also full grain calfskin. I was expecting this was the softest and also the most appreciated, but seems not! That's really interesting.

I've also found that calfskin leather could be treated to have the same look of deerleather. I personally prefer the smooth feel of leathers without the grainy look, so maybe pure full grain calfskin is not what I'm looking for?

I was in Saks a couple of weeks ago, and tried on one of the new Prada bags with the smooth leather. Almost immediately, an SA appeared and told me flat out that if I was looking for an everyday bag, not to pick that one -- that it shows wear way too easily. I was kind of shocked than an SA would try to talk me out of a bag! He tried to point me toward the Saffiano leather, but I don't care for Saffiano, so he was out of luck. But I did find it interesting -- I wonder if Prada gets a lot of complaints about how this leather wears.

Again, I find the Longchamp Le Pliage Cuir line has leather that has that silky soft feel, but it's tough as nails when it comes to wear.

Cool. I've done some research and seems this goat/lamb combo mix exists and it's called "metis leather". As far as I understand the animal itself is a mixed breed... I must find a tannery now and feel it with my hands!
