Which influencers do you really trust recommendations from?

Ditto. I tend to like the 2 year wear/tear or 5 year wear/tear handbag videos b/c those are true owners of the bag and they will KNOW about the bag and the pros/cons. Owning a bag for 1 day or even 1 month - not a great way to judge it at all. You need to be using the bag regularly for a quality review, of anything, really. I like unboxing videos in most categories, especially electronics, to see what you are supposed to get inside the box and how the item should come packaged, with like accessories and such. I don't care one bit for unboxings of bags or accessories.
Now those sound like useful content! who has videos showing how bags hold up after a few years?

A few years ago I used to try to watch Chase Amie not because her style is at all interesting but because she had a couple of reviews of bags I thought I might like. But the way she talks straight through every video without ever once taking a breath of air drove me bananas. I was never interested in her promotions/recommendations.

These are the ones I tend to trust (if one can speak of trust in any online scenario) and that's not to say I'd go out and spend money on something just because they recommended an item or flashed a coupon code; it's that they each seem real (in their own way) and straightforward, and at least one facet of their style/wardrobe overlaps with the stuff I like:

I enjoy Sophie Shohet for her genuine personality and comforting manner. Wenwen Stokes has an ecclectic style and always has some unusual finds to show. Cassie Thorpe is an absolute hoot, her sense of humour cracks me up. I still watch Lalli Mirza, Tamara Kalinic, and Claire Chanelle just because their life$tyles seem so decadent. Style Hard is down to earth and I like her high-low mix of things. Jonathan Lucca is rather new to YT, has a nice bag collection and sweet personality. KarenBritChick is another enjoyable personality, and I've been a year-long follower of Lissy in the City, a real person in my age bracket I can relate to.
[OT: not an influencer but highly recommended: the best fashion commentator on YT imho is Loic Prigent. His long videos are an absolute treat and researched in great detail.]
I discovered Cassie Thorpe during quarantine and she is my spirit animal LOL. She cracks me up and I love that her videos are short.

I agree! It’s not a large portion of her content, but I just feel like seeing this small bit firsthand makes me realize how staged everything with influencers must be. That the lifestyle/person an influencer portrays is most likely not reality.
She tags exactly like you say; location never tagged but brands are! It’s the Peninsula Riding Club located in Rolling Hills Estates, CA.

Wow....talk about posing. Horse dung on the hem of a Dior...THAT’S a real horse mom.

Not aspirational. More like pathetic.

I have been so sad to see Kelly Jane gone! I’m in finance as well and loved the mix of fashion finance info. Wonder if she was forced to shut down. Most of her information shared was all public information, but brands don’t like folks making assumptions about their financial health. Knowing that influencers...literally influence....kinda wondered if she was forced to shut down for some reason.
but then again it’s quarantine, I’m bored and over Thinking! Lol!

She was a structured bag girl! I’ll miss her channel!!!

I miss her too. Her content was very interesting.

Although I see how you guys may think people are not honest... I have to share that I disagree a little with you all. I am an influencer - fairly new - but I don't get paid to influence others. I share my honest opinions for the products that I review. I love some products, I like some and I don't like some. And I say it because I am a straight shooter. I am not nasty about it... and since I do mostly live hauls or unboxing, my audience can read it on my face. Well... I am a nano influencer, but my integrity is extremely important to me. Even my favorite houses gets flak from me.

Does anyone else here watch Jenny Dey? She posted a video titled WHY I AM NO LONGER PURCHASING FROM LOUIS VUITTON...YOUR INFORMATION IS NOT SAFE

I used to really enjoy her videos but I noticed fairly quickly that she buys and returns her items quite often.

Here is her video for reference if you're unfamiliar with her. Her responses to her subscribers was not very graceful either. She did inspire me to buy a few handbags and slgs even though she doesn't keep them.

Karenbritchick but primarily for her videos where she goes around asking people what they're wearing, and when she goes through her wardrobe with her friends. Love her style but it's not anywhere close to my own. Dearly Bethany gives great tips for the petite woman but never feels like she's trying to push a sale. I'm short and would like to appear not-so-short. I'm not a big viewer of luxury influencers and will only watch in moderation. People like Sophie Shohet and Caitlin Pawlowski. However, I don't get much inspo from them. It's primarily the style-fashion influencers.

Sophie Shohet and Geek is chic are the only two I trust.

I like fashion Jackson’s style, but she is a walking advert banner. I found it really distasteful esp. early on the pandemic when she just promoted stuff. Also don’t think she claims it all either that she’s getting paid and sponsorship.

Chase Amie is a walking advert too, all her content is about sales, discount, promotions, etc. Also she lives in the UK, but seems to put a lot of stuff on American sales. That just tells me she’s after clicks via her affiliate links, promos and sponsorships.

I now skip over the ‘advert’ portion of the clip. Nothing on YouTube seems genuine any more.

I watched Chase Amie before but not anymore, same reason as yours lol
