Which handbag have you gotten the most compliments on?

My Lulu Guinness putty and black Polyanna bag! I probably use it far more than I should but it's so wearable and goes with everything in all seasons! People who don't know me around town who have talked to my friends refer to me as 'The lady with gorgeous cream bag'!! That makes me giggle! My bag is better known than me!!

No one ever compliments my bags! LOL. #NeutralBagProblems. Also probably a result of carrying "classic" bags like a monogram Speedy - even though it may be a beautiful bag, it's a bag everyone has seen before. Which doesn't bother me at all! It feels like carrying a bit of history or pop culture on my arm.

Great thread idea!

I'm from the north of England where Mulberry still reigns supreme as a recognisable high end brand. I bought and sold two Mulberry sale purchases (oak SBS and navy mini Alexa). I absolutely loved the look, feel and smell of those bags, and I miss them, but I found that I was unable to carry them because I became overwhelmed with embarrasment and self consiousness about people looking and knowing that I had spent so much money on a handbag. I didn't realise I could feel like that! I know it sounds crazy but the one time I took the mini Alexa to work, I actually carried it INSIDE a le pliage! So that nobody could see it!! I now have one outlet Mulberry (a chocolate Somerset hobo) that I can turn around so most people don't know it's a Mulberry. It is a nice bag but I'm not sure it's love for the simple reason that I resent the high cost of it for something that's actually quite plain and ordinary! So I may sell that too and put my expensive mistakes down to learning a valuable lesson about myself, namely that I'm just too unassuming to wear a designer bag. I guess it's like cars - I drive a top spec common brand Nissan SUV - that way I get the luxury leather seats and features without anybody really knowing.

My favourite brand is Coach - they are still not so widely known in the UK, certainly in the North East, and they nearly always get compliments, usually for the colours (e.g. Soapstone - so lush), and I guess they are still a relatively "invisible" brand that people feel comfortable commenting on, and are something unusual (unlike MK which is EVERYWHERE here).

I myself complimented a stranger on the bus in Florida for her Dooney & Bourke florentine satchel - it was a rich plum, and had soooooo much character. I wouldn't feel comfortable commenting on a high end designer bag on the arm of a complete stranger - just a gut feel thing.

The other problem in my part of the world is the sad fact that most "designer looking" bags that you see out and about are fakes. Either blatent vulgar fakes or just style mock ups, which isn't always immediately obvious from a fleeting glance. Another reason I don't feel comfortable commenting.

Great thread!
Funny enough that would be the bag I had a love/hate relationship with.
My Hermès Sanguine Birkin. It really took me a long time to get used to the chameleon color and to make it work, but at the same time it was also the bag that received most compliments, go figure :p.
Now, several years later, it definitely is a keeper for me, but mostly because of sentimental reasons.
When I just got it, I once wore it when visiting my dear late grandmother. Dear grandmother just had to try it on and walked into her garden with my Birkin, proudly wearing it on her arm. And oh my, she was so rocking that Birkin, it really looked fabulous on her .
Now that she has passed away several years ago, I sometimes think about that moment again and it just makes me smile.
Here are a few pics of the bag I was talking about. Such a chameleon color!
Thank you for letting me share !
