I come across the situation that hard to decide...

There are 2 diamond that I will use for my e-ring.

here are the two diamond
first - 1.20 ct ,D color , IF
second - 2.19 ct , J color , vvs

Both are GIA cert.,round brillant, EX cut, Heart&Arrow .
and SAME PRICE :shrugs:

What would you choose??

BIG or very Clear???

Help me please lady ....

BTW 2.19 ct is really HUGE than 1.20 ....

I'm now :p:upsidedown:

I guess it just depends on what matters more to you. Would you rather have a ring that sparkles like crazy or one that's just big but maybe not so sparkly.... I alway thought I wanted a huge ring but when it came down to it I picked a 1 carat E color ring that sparkles like crazy! It actually looks better than it really is bc of its cut and color. But in the end, it's really 100% up to you. :) Good luck!!!

Besides size, the difference is color. If you like how the J looks, color wise, I would go for the bigger stone. They both are going to be clear - no visible difference between VVS and IF. The J may have a slight tint so it comes down to your preference - which one did YOU love?

is there something in between?
I think many ladies here like warm colored diamonds but I like mine white. On the other hand IF is really overkill for me.

I guess I wouldn't choose either?

I think the D would be beautiful and it's quite large.
J's are definitely a different color.
But you should compare both and see what you like.
Both will be pretty and sparkly so its a matter if it being yellow on the side matters to you.
the suggestion of going in between might be good. F color is still icey white and G isn't icey but its very white and quite different from a J. Even an H is different from a J.
I have an F and an H and the H looks dingy to me when it's next to the F. The F is an AGS graded and the H is graded by my local jeweller so might probably be actually a lower color if graded by AGS or GIA. I have H color earrings and they are super-ideals (H & A) and do not look dingy at all--but they do not look icey like the F, either.
It all comes back to what makes YOU happy. it makes me happy to look at my F and see how white it is and it is a super-beautiful diamond but I do notice that larger, but less white and beautiful diamonds get more attention. If you mostly want the attention and admiration, I'd definitely go for the larger J (which is still going to be beautiful)-- but in your case, the D is definitely a big stone and I would go with that.

I would go for the larger of the two.

I'm not super color sensitive though and I actually prefer 'warmer' diamonds. A 'J' won't look yellow at all, and and especially with the cut being H&A it should be a GORGEOUS stone.

another vote for the 2.19 ct!

i just bought a 2.01 J/SI1.I can only imagine how huge and white it'll face up with that great cut/clarity.its all up to you though.I ran in to that as well.it can be bothersome but rewarding in the end.you can always return it if its either too small or too big yanno?can't wait to see what you choose.

I've seen Tanj's stone in her thread. Goooooorgeous!! I would go for the J stone. It is important though to be in love with a stone. I love diamonds a lot but I don't like all diamonds. Even with great specs. A diamond is very personal, especially in these sizes.

I'd go in between :-s
I'd look for something closer to 2crts and a slightly better color.
Between the 2, I'd go for the larger one. With that cut it will look whiter than a J.

between the 2, i would go with the larger one as well. i think if you are color sensitive though, then i wouldn't go the "j" route. seriously, diamond shrinkage comes pretty early.....maybe you can find an in betweener, something in the g-h color range?
