I have a 3 months old (and 3 older kids) and I can't imagine using my B35 for his stuff. You will take your diaper bag to public bathrooms, playgrounds, it will be on the floor etc. Soon enough you'll pack things that can get messy: sippy cup, fruit pouch, sandbox toys, wet towels.
When I was pregnant and asking for a Pico my SA said: you need to be hands free! Or half joked to get the Gucci baby bag;) I ended with another mini Evelyne and Kelly Danse. I use Danse when I'm out without the baby.
When I'm strolling with baby I have a small crossbody and a nylon bag on the stroller. When I'm wearing the baby I have a Longchamp pliage.
Have fun shopping!

Just remember that most places (not at home of course) where you are changing nappies are pure grot.... As a dad with seven kids, my wife and I have a home-made bag (my mum is a quilter/sewer) that is size specific and also is practical to throw everything in! You don't want a special bag for babies... it will be ruined. When the baby is covered with body fluids, when you look at the public shopping centre nursing room bench (ewwwww) and all the other places that will TOUCH THE SURFACE OF YOUR HERMES BAG - you will wish you had a functional-chic-courture-but-homemade bag as you will want to throw it into the washing machine from time to time!

You won't have time to spend hours cleaning the Hermes nappy bag with gloves and cotton buds.

Save your money and put it towards something that won't make you stress when you need to deal with ....... life's 8 times daily reminders that we are organic creatures!

ScarfBloke.
Just want to say kudos to you for being a dad of 7! I know family member with 9 kids (!) and totally understand its challenges.

For those of you who have experience or deeper knowledge of being a newborn mom, which Birkin size is better for a diaper/mommy bag and why?

Please vote and would love to hear your insight.

Thanks!

Neither are good diaper bags.
Best diaper bag from Hermes is the Grooming Bag in the equestrian section.
Numerous large pockets, water resistant canvas (lighter than leather)and shoulder strap. It also comes with a removable drawstring liner for easy clean up (machine washable) and reorganizing.

FTM using this with my 13 month old.

Also, when you're done, it would make for a good travel bag

100000%%%% There will be so many moments you will have to put your bag down to attend to the baby's needs. And no amount of planning will prevent this.

I only have one, and she is pretty easy going, but diaper bags should be the most carefree bag in the world.

My SA recommended this as a “diaper bag” a while back and said exactly the same- that it can be used as a travel bag eventually.

I didn’t buy it but I do think it’s really cool, especially with that orange liner.
Right now I’m using the diaper bag from Herschel and it’s my favorite one I’ve used! I toss a pouch in with my own things. Lululemon mini pouch is perfect for this. It even has a separate interior compartment that fits my calvi perfectly. When I bring my own handbag along, I just transfer the pouch from the diaper bag into MY bag.

I use a b30 and k28 for 6 month old twins for example.I would habe used a k32 instead so thats on my wishlist now.. but i think for a singleton a k28 or b30 works. babies dont need much tbh
That’s interesting and I’ve heard this from several people who’ve been moms as well. They are adamant that babies don’t need much and don’t need to carry the whole kitchen sink when outside. Which is completely opposite from what others say…

I am a minimalist when packing baby’s things. I’m nursing so no need for bottles. I really just need a supply of diapers, wipes, and a change of clothes for the baby (for a simple outing anyway). Even still, it’s not about the amount I’m bringing with me. I definitely wouldn’t want to be responsible for a Birkin while out with the baby.

I LOVE the idea of the grooming bag - that is such a great idea! I'm going to have to share that on our site!

So even when I attempt to pack light, what I realize with kids is a few things and one being that the bag will be heavy. I think you would need a 35cm and that is already heavy, so I really don't think it's a good bag. I personally am a big fan of nylon or canvas, easier to wipe down, and then I use a lot of pouches.

Keep us posted and congrats!
