Where's Your Bag in the car/when you're driving?

Ok, so I've answered this thread before but now I wanted to share with you. The other day I was driving my daughter's car. All of my kids were in the car so there was no place for my bag. My bag is very big but I managed to place it by the stick shift when my DD yelled out: "For crying out loud, it's a bag, mom and just a bag!" With that, she placed it on the floor between her feet! At first my mouth was :wtf: but then I let out a big laugh 'cause in the end, she's right! No matter what the brand, leather, quality, etc., it just serves one purpose and is a materialistic possession.

Glad she set me straight! Oh, and btw, my bag is just fine!

Funny story. I hope I would have laughed as well. So far, I haven't had to put my bag on the floor, it would give me a queasy feeling, but if there was just no other place for it, I guess I would have opted for the front floor between the passengers feet as well. I really prefer driving alone, with it in the passenger seat, but when my son is with me, It goes gingerly in the back seat, and I try not to make sudden moves. LOL.

In the end, it IS a bag, but we still like to pamper them, don't we?

Mine goes on the passenger seat, the back seat if someone else is riding with me, or in the front passenger's lap if all the seats are taken! I never put one of my bags on the floor.

I would think it's dangerous to put the bag next to your foot. What if it slides, and part of it gets stuck under the brake pedal?

I put a small mesh cube in the foot area of the back seat behind the driver's seat (see picture from Container Store). I got this idea after a really bad car accident, where my bag got tossed off the back seat, and I couldn't find it to get my phone. The cube is collapsible if I have passengers in the back.

I use something like this too. I drive a big 12 passenger van and there's floor space between the front seats. I put my basket thingy there and line it with either an old tablecloth or this baby-shopping-cart padding thingy. My purses are nice and safe from sliding around and they stay off the floor.
