Where to put lock and key on Birkin??

Here is how I tie the clochette and lock on my bags....

I love that. I really can't figure out how to do it but I think it looks great!

I keep mine in the little pouch inside the box. I don't bother putting it on the bag.

Occasionally, I will hang it from the turn post, but mostly I've been carrying my birkins naked since I learned that the lock can make a "smiley face" mark in the leather from swinging back and forth.

i bought my birkin second hand and it already had a slight impression from the lock twirling around on the turnlock. i've left it on there because it makes me feel like i'm honouring the original owner in a way (sort of a thank you for giving it up for me). i always keep the clochette on the left. with my kelly i don't use the lock or the clochette. they stay in their little bag in the box.

Correct ! ... That way it can't slip and go away... I once lost the whole set and I was so desperate that I always tie it tight now.

I also heard from an SA that the metal from the lock will eventually damage the surface of the leather - either the smiley face, or some kind of impression/mark if it slaps on the bag as it swings from the clochette. Which is too bad as I love look of the bag with the lock!
