Where is your Burberry made in?

I was in the Burberry store yesterday and was going to buy my first bag. I've always been a gucci lover, but thought for the new year I might treat myself with something, and that something was going to be different.

I went in thinking Burberry is made in Italy, and then when I was going to buy by chance before I paid I checked and the bag was made in china. I couldn't believe my eyes. So I asked the SA and she said that it was due to not enough supply demand and so they got it made in their china factories for supply. I was buying it in a red trim and that was made in china, but the black, brown and rust trim were all made in Italy. She said that's because red is a seasonal colour. And all seasonal colours are made in china. I asked if she had another red one at the back, as i was worried and not happy with paying over thousands of dollars for a bag made in china.

And guess what? When she returned with another red it was made in Italy. Now how is that possible you ask? I asked her and she said not sure. A a gucci fan all of gucci's bags are made in Italy and clearly visible, but the china tag was all the way at the bottom on the side and hard to find, but when it was made it Italy it was visible and at the top.

I didn't buy the bag because if you are buying and paying for a premium brand like burberry you would expect it to be made in Italy or else if its china for cheap labour or whatever the reason, it should be a much cheaper price. I find this whole thing to be very deceptive, and false advertising for us buyers, and if some are made in china that would de value the whole brand. And how can the same bag be made in both china and Italy. The SA said they are stopping the production of bags in china, but after reading all these posts I think not. That wasn't true either.

When I felt the bag made in Italy the material and leather was stronger and seemed like better quality, compared to the china that was soft and flimsy.

After this, I will NEVER buy or even walk into burberry again, as it is NOT AS PREMIUM as it has made it self out to be. I'm very disappointed about the brand, and just want to warn others before purchasing of the discrepancies and inconsistencies in where things are made, and what information they are feeding us. It is not black and white!

Their lower end (not Prorsum) bags have been made on China for many many years. So is a lot of their clothing and shoes. I thought it was common knowledge, but I'm so sorry you were broadsided. Burberry watches are made by Fossil.

This is common with almost all brands though. Prada makes bags in China. Louis Vuitton is outsourcing to the extent they are now carrying cloth tags that say "made in ----- of imported materials." Coach items are made in China. Huge percentage of Prada bags are as well. It's just how things are going.

Burberry still has some beautiful things. I just bought a. tote that was over $900 after tax. It's beautifully made. I probably would have gone ahead on the bag you wanted when you found one made in Italy. That was a true find.

Even a lot of the trenches are made in china. That I wouldn't buy. I bought my daughter a trench last Christmas. We were careful to only buy a trench from the actual boutique as most sold in department stores are the china made ones, but sometimes the ones in the boutique are as well, so you just need to check.

I will say Burberry is actually more upfront about it than Prada and others. Prada hides their made in Chins tags literally inside the lining of their bags. They say Prada Italy and then you have to practically tear the bag apart to find the made in China tag. It's sad.

I do love my new Burberry tote. I'm so sorry you went through this and didn't know. It's like being blindsided.

I'm steering clear of the cloth tag Louis Vuitton bags partially for that reason and because I can tell a difference in the bags. Luckily I have a daughter in Australia so I can still find made in France items.

Thanks for this thread ladies, I just wish I had discovered it earlier. I have just found out my Nova Check Burberry items are all made in China considering I bought the wallet from Australia and the coin purse and bag from the UK.

I am definitely rethinking my next designer purchase...

I just checked my couple bag from last month's buys, one is China and one is Italy. But honestly, I'm sure they have strict restrictions on quality and can't just sell poor made merchandise. You may just need to reflect to see how much you want that bag and if you can live with a China made.

I have no idea where my latest Burberry find was made. I don't even know the style name. Maybe someone can tell me:
