Where do you put the lock in your Speedy?

I usually keep mine on one of the zipper pulls... but come to think on it, I'm not certain I know where any of the keys are.

I used to keep it on the zipper pull, but I found it just made my hardware get scratched up and the lock needed to be polished a lot as it got tarnished quickly. So now I keep it tucked away in my closet, in its little dust bag, all shiny.

I forgot where was my lock and keys, probably in the box that I never opened after taking the bag out.

I do not like the lock on a speedy. I keep the lock in its dust bag and periodically clean it with Brasso. However, I do like the lock on my Alma bb on the zipper pull.

Hi everyone, I wanted to revive this thread because I just bought my first speedy, a glorious epi thirty years old, and it came with the original lock — but not the key! And the lock is in the tongue of leather where you’d have it when closing the bag - locked. I can’t get it off! During my first day out, I could already see the weight was stressing the leather - caused some very slight cracking. And in my research for this purchase, I saw hundreds of vintage speedys where the weight of the lock caused the leather tab to break. So I’m well aware of the risk. This has made me not want to use the bag. sad! What would you do? I can’t open the lock to take it off and put it somewhere safe. So I’m trying to figure out how I can discreetly reinforce the leather from behind. Or other ideas?

Take it to LV. Maybe they have a skeleton key and can open it. Or if a friend has a key try hers.

I might leave mine hanging on one of the sides. Or keep it in the dust bag in the closet.

I have speedy B 30 and I removed the lock. I put it on my Neverfull DE GM instead.

I sometimes put it on the d-ring inside the bag as I don't want it to mark the leather on the leather outside. It's kind of cute opening the bag and seeing it in there!
