Where do you put the lock in your Speedy?

I keep it hanging on the interior D-ring of my regular Speedy. With the keys inserted in the keyhole. It looks adorable when I open up my Speedy and it feels like a little secret treat :)

My SA put it on one of the zipper pulls of my DE Speedy B but I've moved it to one of the rings at the end of the bag because it felt awkward to have the lock there. It didnt sit flat.

Question - how can you tell which is the "front" of the DE Speedy?

Update. Lol just figured out which side is the front. Sat here admiring it and realized that the logos on the back are upside down!

I found a cute faux leather watermelon keychain at a Japanese trinket store. I clipped my lock and left the keys dangling and hang it on the left chap side brass thingy! I think the green and the red make it really pop against the dark colors of the DE canvas

Hi everyone, I wanted to revive this thread because I just bought my first speedy, a glorious epi thirty years old, and it came with the original lock — but not the key! And the lock is in the tongue of leather where you’d have it when closing the bag - locked. I can’t get it off! During my first day out, I could already see the weight was stressing the leather - caused some very slight cracking. And in my research for this purchase, I saw hundreds of vintage speedys where the weight of the lock caused the leather tab to break. So I’m well aware of the risk. This has made me not want to use the bag. sad! What would you do? I can’t open the lock to take it off and put it somewhere safe. So I’m trying to figure out how I can discreetly reinforce the leather from behind. Or other ideas?
Thanks!
This is my first luxury bag. I’ve been a lurker here ever since I decided to buy - a long process before purchase in which I benefited greatly from your knowledge and experience. Thank you!

I would cut the lock off. Probably easily done with a Dremmel tool or something like that.

for some reason i recall reading years back that the lv stores can remove the lock? is that true? might be worth a call to ask. also, the locks are numbered so you might be able to find a key with that number either as a CA or check the resale marketplaces for that numbered key.

I agree… cut the lock off. You’ll feel better once you do.

As for my own lock on my Speedy B 25 in noir empreinte, it’s usually in its dust bag in a closet drawer. Sometimes I’ll style the bag with the lock on one of the zippers.
