just followed you on instagram! Love your collection. My instagram is @bethanybflores if you see the followI put mine on the front hardware (on top of one of the leather tabs) with one of the keys dangling on the lock! It looks cute. Like a mini-bagcharm.
Update. Lol just figured out which side is the front. Sat here admiring it and realized that the logos on the back are upside down!My SA put it on one of the zipper pulls of my DE Speedy B but I've moved it to one of the rings at the end of the bag because it felt awkward to have the lock there. It didnt sit flat.
Question - how can you tell which is the "front" of the DE Speedy?
I would cut the lock off. Probably easily done with a Dremmel tool or something like that.Hi everyone, I wanted to revive this thread because I just bought my first speedy, a glorious epi thirty years old, and it came with the original lock — but not the key! And the lock is in the tongue of leather where you’d have it when closing the bag - locked. I can’t get it off! During my first day out, I could already see the weight was stressing the leather - caused some very slight cracking. And in my research for this purchase, I saw hundreds of vintage speedys where the weight of the lock caused the leather tab to break. So I’m well aware of the risk. This has made me not want to use the bag. sad! What would you do? I can’t open the lock to take it off and put it somewhere safe. So I’m trying to figure out how I can discreetly reinforce the leather from behind. Or other ideas?
Thanks!
This is my first luxury bag. I’ve been a lurker here ever since I decided to buy - a long process before purchase in which I benefited greatly from your knowledge and experience. Thank you!
for some reason i recall reading years back that the lv stores can remove the lock? is that true? might be worth a call to ask. also, the locks are numbered so you might be able to find a key with that number either as a CA or check the resale marketplaces for that numbered key.I would cut the lock off. Probably easily done with a Dremmel tool or something like that.
