is this tjmaxx the runway one? Yours has some GREAT stuff!

Yes, it is. I've found some really great designer bags there. I bought a YSL wallet yesterday that was $170. No sleeper, but still a great deal (I checked the YSL website, and it's currently selling for $425). A few months ago, I found a Celine Med Classic Box in Camel. it was pretty scratched and scuffed up, but I used some conditioner, and now you can barely see the marks. I keep hoping to find a Celine Luggage as I've read (in the Celine forum) that several people have found one at their TJMaxx. Keeping my fingers crossed that I find one in 2012! :push:

WOW! guess i will have to check out the Runway ones that are near me. I have three within 20 miles of me, so hopefully i can find something there. Whenever i go there is nothing on clearance and prices are still high. I guess they move a lot of merchandise so no need for clearance

This thread makes me so sad! I worked in the TJ Maxx in Natick MA's Shoppers World (actually, it's Framingham, but right on the line) when they were "testing" the Runway department. To us it was just the purple tag department, or department 6. It was a success of course. I was so excited the first time that I saw a Prada bag show up! But alas, I moved out of state (and left the company) just as the department was really gearing up and catching on. Now it's all over MA and other places but I'm in lovely Orlando... and the nearest TJ's with a Runway is all the way in Miami! BOO! You'd think with all of the various outlets that we have down here, we would have some good stuff... but we don't! It's like we get all the junk that no one else in the country wants. :crybaby:

I've only vistited the Countryside location once and the one in Oakbrook a couple times - but mainly on the weekends. What days do you tend to find these great bags? I'm sure they go pretty fast.

Purple tags are Runway style items? I always wondered about the purple tags (especially when I'm not in a Runway store), but sometimes I see them on like Ralph Lauren items (which I don't really consider Runway).

Yes, as far as I've seen...blue tags can also be slightly nicer items but are not generally the same caliber. I've seen Runway-quality items with the regular white tags, though (like the Theory dress I found awhile ago)...and the shoe/household item stickers are all white.

I've visited the Oakbrook location many times and always come out empty handed .. either it's still too pricey compared to NRack or just nothing I'd want or good...

I think there are certain lines of Ralph Lauren... stylistically I'm not really a RL girl, but i think the have a "collection" line that retails in 100s and 1000s... versus the diffusion lines which people come across more often. That being said.. i am not tempted by runway RL goods.

Yes, purple tags belong to higer end items. RL does make higher end item, although like the other people on here, I wouldn't be interested. If there is a purple tag item in a store without a Runway department, that means it was probably purchased at a Runway store and returned at a non Runway store. TJ Maxx doesn't have to have a Runway department in order to accept a return from that department. Also, on occasion, TJ Maxx will have an RL event or a designer handbag event or some such thing and might end up with some purple tagged items that they wouldn't have otherwise had. Not common, but it can happen.

Blue tags usually belong to a "collection", and are typically nicer items... like Michael Kors, for example.

As a side note, if you ever want to know what some of the numbers on the tags mean... the boxed in number to the top right is the date code and runs on a 24 month scale. (This year December will be 12, next December will be 24, then reboot, for example)... that's when the item came in. The older the date code, the more likely it is to get marked down. Sometimes, next to that boxed number, there will be a dash and then a single number. If that single number is a 2... that means it's got a defect. Maybe a seam is stitched wrong or the hem is crooked or something minor that got it pulled from being shipped off to Macy's or somewhere. The other numbers don't mean anything signifigant. Open box, overstock, etc.

Thanks for the info that is really helpful

Interesting! I just checked the tags on a couple of Theory items I still have NWT (I just bought a blouse last month whose month number was 21, which was last Sept, I'm guessing...so we've just rebooted and this month is now 1?). Both items had a 7 after the dash...and I've always seen that the Runway dept is referred to as Dept. 7, so that might be what the number means in that case.

(Oddly, the Theory blazer I bought in TX last summer has a blue tag...I've never seen blue-tagged Theory items anywhere else. This wasn't a Runway location either)
