when did your bag obsession began?

It was when I was about 5 or 6 years old. My parents took me to a flea market. After walking around a bit, I spotted a pink, plastic purse with faux pearl handle. There were some kid jewelry pieces inside, but it was the baby's shade of pink and its cute size that mesmerized me. I was so enamored with it, I ended up staying at the vendor in the hopes my parents would get it for me. Instead, my parents freaked out because they thought I was lost. They found me, but I didnt get the bag.
As the years passed, I collected and used different cute-styled bags, but now I'm working on my designer collection. But I still love cute design, luxury or not....

Long story short, it started with a pink bag.
Aww, that's a cute story:heart: Why didn't your parents get the bag?

I think I always liked bags. I remember being a girl of about 10 or 12 and becoming enamored with this bag I saw... It was not a girl's bag but rather a woman's, and frankly, looking back at it, it was absolutely hideous and not very good quality. But it was big, black, just how I like them today  I eventually persuaded my mom into buying it for me. I carried it to school and everything.

Then this obsession died down and didn't really present itself again until 2017, so four years ago. I got tired of throwing away cheap Asos & co bags and bought a really pretty bag by Bimba & Lola in black leather. It's a Spanish brand. The bag was truly nicely made and had deep pockets, metal zippers, etc. That's when I realized how important it is for me to have a good quality, beautiful bag. My mom now has it and she wears it often.

I didn't get into designer stuff until a bit later, but now I can truly say that yes, I am obsessed.

My bag obsession started when I was in high school, but it was solely looking at bags as I couldn’t afford any. Not even contemporary designer brands.

Then, I got into university. I saw these peers walking on campus with their Louis Vuitton Neverfull. I thought - wow, that must be expensive. I had summer jobs during my undergrad (minimum wage). Saved up a bit of money, and bought a Coach wristlet (wristlet only, not a bag as again, couldn’t afford it). That was a big deal to me at the time . For your reference, I didn’t get my first cell phone until first year university and at the time, Nokia was the thing and iPhone didn’t even exist.

My first real designer bag was my Speedy 25B that I bought four years ago. My daughter seems to love bags too, maybe she got this from me:giggle:. One time, we finished dine-in at a restaurant, I paid the bill, grabbed everything and off we went. She suddenly walked back to the seat and said - oh no! My bag! I said - yes, mama got your bag, don’t worry! She insisted she had to wear it!

I admired Coach and Dooney in my 30’s and picked up a few, mostly second hand along the way. Summer of 2016 I decided to research how to best deep condition the vintage Coach bags, original weight full grain leather I had. A few products and a few flea market later led to a great result. In browsing for cheap bags online I found a BT vintage Coach that was essentially unused. I was hooked into looking for inexpensive lightly used bags as well as good rehab candidates.
Eta, I found the tPF a few months into the journey. I was familiar with the classic and popular vintage Coach styles, but I had no idea of the incredible numbers of vintage styles made, in a variety of colors. Once I found out authentification, the rest is history!

Vintage coach and dooney bags are awesome and wears like iron. Come to think of it, one of my first thrifted leather bag is a Navy vintage coach companion flap. The coach community in this forum is very active and I. am glad you found your way to this great community of bag lovers!

I’ve always like small bags, and purchased based on look/color. I preferred no logos. My parents once bought me a faux Louis Vuitton Pochette Accessoires and Soeedy that I used in college…then stopped because I decided not to use fakes.

My bags started from the Gap to Express to Macy’s to Dooney to Kate Spade to Tory Burch. A close friend whose super into premier designers got me thinking how else I can treat myself at 40. I then researched galore, learned to research YouTube, and found Purseforum.

I have since collected LV, YSL, and Gucci and I’m not turning back.

In hindsight, I did not realize premier bags were so less expensive when I was younger, and could have afforded but never looked into it.

Aged about 13, when we were staying on holiday in the South of France and went over to Spain to buy leather and duty free.

my mum got loads of bags.

I found a small burgundy one thatI Had to have

I carried it for years until I got a Bally black patent one.

but my navy Jimmy Choo is too addictive

I have 10 bags and can’t bring myself to use another one

in the end that will wear out and I’ll either get another bag or Have to choose one of the others whilst I save for a perfect bag

but the Jimmy Choo is my best bag ever..

Do you have a picture of your Jimmy Choo? I just wonder what it looks like, perhaps if the bag finally wears out, you can get another one second hand?
