When are you too old???

It's funny because until a few years ago the D&B bags were for older women. They added the monogram bags and the vinyl to market to young women and girls and it worked. They used to sell the all weather leather and that was it. I don't think they even make those anymore. And those older bags were made of high quality materials and cost more to make. Now they are more cheaply made and cost more.

Yeah, I'm sure they used to be of better quality. This probably sound so cliche but I think a lot of things used to be made better. :sad2: My mom used to have a Gucci bag from like the '80s and that thing lasted her a long time. I don't remember how long, but a few years ago, she got a Gucci bag and the strap broke after a year of on and off use. I've also heard of Coach having a great history, but my Coach bags didn't hold up very well, either. Neither did my friends. That's really all I can say from semipersonal experience, but I heard stories of other brands not being as good as they used to be. I also think you have to look at bags yourself, before you buy them. Seems a good history isn't worth anything any more.

Oh how I love this question - it made me sign and register when I swore I could never do such a silly thing. You see, I am 40(although I still get carded and people say I don't look my age). Yeah right - but oh well. I got into this designer bag thing about 2 years ago. One of my favorite bags is my chocolate brown Chloe Kerala satchel from Aloha Rag. I have a LV and Chloe Paddington - but I have a special love for this Kerala.

Well, I just pre-ordered the Dior Large Double Saddle in white from E-Luxury the first day they offered it - loved it. Had no idea it was on of the "it" bags. This is a long story, I will try to make it short. I'm a 40 yo African-American woman who loves horses - owned one for a short time. Always loved horses and always will. Well this guy once told me that "black people don't like horses". Craziest statement that I've ever heard right - and it always stuck with me 'cause I love everything about horses. So as dark as I am I was kinda worried about myself if ya know what I mean.

Well, girls I cherish any purse with any equestrian feel to it and so the Kerala and the Gaucho allow me to be who I am without saying a word - and I know this is overkill for a frickin' purse. But I too have thought about the age appropriateness of my purses and I never thought anyone felt this way. Ok, so this is becoming cathartic!! Buy the purse that makes you feel special - even if it's not designer.

WELCOME to the...whatever this is! I love horses, too. And bags. I don't ride anymore (at least not now), but I used to show hunter/jumper. We plan to get horses after my husband finishes his Ph.D.

I joined this month also, and now look at me...200+ posts. It's an addiction!

BTW, D&B does still make the all weather leather. You can see the offerings on their website.

Hah, I've been wondering when I'm too old for Hello Kitty and other "cutesy" stuff. The other day I wanted to buy a cupcake necklace on fredflare.com, but my husband nixed the idea since I'll be turning 30 next year.

You're never too old for Hello Kitty. Hello Kitty is . I still use a Hello Kitty bookbag sometimes.

I'm in my early forties and I really just buy what I like. I don't worry about who the bag is appropriate for. I do, however, see that as I get older my taste changes. I am not drawn to the same types of bags now that I once was. I say buy what you like and don't worry about anything else.

I say buy what you like. My mom is going to be 49 and I always ask for her input on bags and she carries some of mine. I even bought her a Coach Soho flap in the hot pink for Christmas 2 years ago, she loves it. Although I do make fun of her Guess? bag, but that's just 'cause I hate it. Only thing I think is... odd is when older women carry D&B "It" bags, if you like it, then hey, go for it, but I feel personally that they're made more for like 30 and under.

Wow.. where was this guy living... under a rock? Wake up! It's 2006! I guess if your black you can't play golf or hockey either.. right? :push:

I think that it's all about what you like.. personally I could definately see myself with those LV bags by Julie Verhoeven (sp?) but I would never touch a Juicy bag  Nothing to do with age.. just preference!
