What’s your unpopular Hermes opinion?

So this might be less an UO and rather a philosophical reflection: Hermes is king (or queen) in making middle class spend more than they should on products they don’t need, thinking that they’ve “achieved” something aspirational by buying Hermes (or any luxury brand). I consider myself “upper” middle class myself and I’m falling in this exact trap. I enjoy and love their products but I realize more and more often that the prices can’t be justified, that I’m falling into the scarcity trap and that I'm being played rather than “playing the game”.
Hermes and all the luxury brands fool the middle class and even the wealthy all the time with their promises of scarcity and games. In the world we live in with social media so fixated on status a lot of people get caught up in it. I say F*** status. Buying something others don’t have or want to have doesn’t make someone special. We are all special in our own way. There isn’t another clone of us anywhere else and who we are and our uniqueness is shaped by our experiences and how we impact the world. When I see someone with multiple croc bags like Jaime or some of these other influencers with dozens of h bags or collections of luxury I am unimpressed. What is the point of amassing all these things? So you can say I have the greatest bag collection? And then what? It comes off as extremely self absorbed. It’s one thing to buy and admire and appreciate luxury but some of these luxury buyers have serious addiction issues and they’re clearly overcompensating for something else going on in their lives or past trauma. The money would be better directed at self help.

Edit and so this remains on topic. H needs to retire the H lift sweaters or come up with a different design the big circle on the front is just weird.
