I am a resounding no on any tiny stuffed things attached to bags. Worse are when someone attaches multiples onto the bag including that Hermes chain or chaine d’ancre silver necklace so all you hear is swish clang swish clang as these people walk about. Just as bad as the clop clop sound of orans or the hitting of the chain on lv canvas bags or mini pochette. You know what I am talking about. A misophoniac’s nightmare. 😫

Surely disliking clanking, noise making, over priced, scary eyed charms is not a minority viewpoint????

UO: I’m priced out of most of the rare, coveted blue box bags (so it’s good that I’m unlikely to be offered any 😂

UO: I like bags to look old and slouch, but my mom says when I start to look wrinkled and slouched, I will change my mind.

I remember a kid used to have coins swish around his shorts in primary school to show he had money… exactly what these charms sounds like to me when I hear them in the shops. I stopped wearing nylon for that same reason (anyone remember the Seinfeld episode where George had those loud pants?). Anyways, my UO is that we are all going to eventually break our own rules as we continue shopping and curating our collections, mixing metals or selling lifelong “forever” bags . I told myself no more bag charms as they cost more than bags on the preloved market… yet here we are IMG_9692.webp

UO: I’m staring to think that some of the prices for the bags - esp the Blue Box and maybe even some heritage leather options - are just not worth it. It just doesn’t make sense anymore. Why pay over $12k for a Box Kelly when you can find one in beautiful vintage condition for under 9k? Plus the quality of the leather just feels better. I’m feeling like I’m close to purse peace.

Please share if you find beautiful condition and well priced box bags! The ones I’ve found are significantly more

Correction: according to another member / K25 is now $18K before taxes in the US. Makes even more sense to go the vintage route, IMO.

Seriously at that price point, I’d rather wait and see if they’d offer a blue box or exotic bag and save the heritage leathers for the resale market. I think box looks gorgeous but the resale pricing for box are just as competitive as the store without the prespend/relationship antics.

UO : I think the KTG and CTG are just glorified wallets. They are not bags. They’re not clutches. They are wallets with straps. Doesn’t make sense to me 🤷‍♀️ (don’t even get me started on the exotic ones!)
I agree. Sadly (maybe just me lol) they are the only way sometimes to get certain colors aka the Gris argente. It was also my only chance to ever see vert d’eau in matte alligator (and touch it!). I didn’t end up getting the alligator (yikes on price) but did get the Gris Argente.

So, I am not the only one, thinking that some of these bleu box pieces, (even being gorgeous) are just overpriced. Had been offered one two weeks agi but i literally screamed at the Price. My SA laughed with me. It was a Nice bag… but I prefer to buy my winter collection for that money.

I would also break my "no charms" rule for that mini shark! It's amazing! 🦈

Unfortunately, I have to agree! I am getting approximately /max my one QB per year and I am happy with it. I would not really know what to else ask for at a price that feels worth it? Maybe one of the aziome bags (which I probably would not be offered anyway)? For most exotics, I am priced out by now, I fear - got one, will be eternally happy with it! . For me, it is just out of balance, if you care about value for money and as I am not tempted by Epsom, Togo, clemence or swift the absolute price increase feels even more pronounced - starting with the heritage leathers!

Maybe I just have to realise that I am not the target client anymore after 10+ years. Sad, but maybe true.

I have a lot of unpopular opinions today!

UO: The dialogue around Hermès is becoming ridiculous (and I do NOT mean here). I got a sample of a book the other day ("Park Avenue" by Renee Ahdieh) and an entire chapter AT THE BEGINNING is dedicated to the difficulty of buying an Hermès bag, the SAs, "prespend", Paris appointments, etc etc - this is in a NOVEL (all the info is also clearly lifted from this forum, but what isn't?). It's so tiring to see media try to get audience with this trope, but now it's in fiction? Every day there's an article about bags 💤 🥱

Related UO: The Jane Birkin-Birkin auction did NOT help the above; it made it 10x worse.

Also related UO: I'm glad Catherine B made so much money on that auction; the folks at her store have always been nice IMO.

ALSO (yep more) related UO: It's icky how many "influencers" pretended to be bidding on that auction. All I will say is that there were A LOT of people outside taking pictures and posting that they were bidding... who were not inside with a paddle number having qualified for the minimum bid.

UNRELATED UO: Anyone can say anything about their shopping and/or buying experience at an Hermès store. This does not make it true, nor, even if it's true, universal. That said, if you are an actual client, you will have some accurate insights. Bbbut...take some advice with a whole shaker of salt 🧂
