What’s your unpopular Hermes opinion?

I don’t think the bolide looks oldish, maybe in the larger sizes yes (oops). For the mini, size 25 and size 27 they look very girlish and cute to me. I really like the 27 with that cute oval haha.

Some colors can make one appear more ahem serious or mature - I know Gold ages me by 15 years.

And the tricolor mini and 25 Kellys look totally off to me. I don’t understand how Hermes makes such weird mismatched stuffs.
there has to be an H bag for those of us who don’t want to look girlish, yet don’t want to look too mature lol

Since we are all different, there is no one perfect H bag

I agree with wearing whatever you want, and if you don’t want to look too ‘mature,’
use sunscreen and a floppy hat

unpopular opinion: the more H RTW I buy for myself (either men’s or women’s) the less inclined I am to carry H bags or wear H shoes (it’s overload)

Agree with @880
H bags give off many different vibes depending how you want the bag to work & look in your lifestyle
For many years, the Kelly was my choice first in a 32 & then to a 35 which I personally prefer
I also think many of us have to try bags that have been under discussion as most bags will
read differently in size, color & choice of leathers
I remember seeing the Lindy first being introduced & thought yeah or nay, but recently purchased
the Lindy in Etoupe & found it to be a versatile bag in my bag wardrobe & especially great for
traveling, JMO & the same applies to the Bolide..
And while head to toe H can make the wearer stand out, nothing like a H leather coat with an H leather bag
on a cool fall day, JMO

Hahahaha! I am the exact opposite, my unpopular opinion is that I enjoy being that tragic fashion victim who wears only one designer at a time. That is the reason I like Hermes. I can wear Hermes head to toe without looking like I am wearing any identifiable designer. In fact, when my daughter had to move to Chicago for college, I told her we would replace her identifiable outerwear, ie Canada Goose, with Hermes because you cannot tell the Hermes coats were Hermes.

Agree lol. :hugs: Well, actually, I resolve my conflict of H pants, top, coat, and yep, bag. . . By removing my csgm and wearing Birkenstocks :-s. But I do gravitate to under the radar pieces (that’s my defense, and I am sticking to it lol

realized I was being a bit hypocritical when I tallied up the times I wear an H coat and bag, as per @Love Of My Life

I only come for the bags at Hermès and have no qualms anymore saying it! I really just don’t enjoy their ready-to-wear and shoes, no matter how much my SA tries to lure me in. Sure, the quality’s great but I find most of their RTW collections really boring (with an unnecessary amount of zippers and pockets everywhere?). As someone who doesn’t particularly enjoy equestrianism, their whole branding also seems to have just one note: horses, horses and horses (with a bit of a travel theme like Louis Vuitton).

I also just find most of their ads quirky in a really cringey way.
I just find the RTW doesn't work on a short, curvy 60+ year old. The clothes are beautiful, but not designed for the likes of me.

This is probably going to upset a few people, but I have never liked the Constance, and don't get the appeal. The funny thing is that I do like the Roulis, which is similar. Something about the giant metal H just turns me off.
Actually, I really dislike the constance also. Or anything with the giant H logo (belts, loafers, etc). I mean maybe if one had a H initial then it would make more sense? It's not particularly aesthetically pleasing for me.

I also find the giant metal H a turnoff. Furthermore, I did have a big H belt buckle once, and it got very scratched. So that's another issue for me.

This is really funny- I did not get the H on the Orans as an H at first, for me it was just a great way to structure a sandal that perfectly fits my feet . Some time later I realised the H as such but I was already so sold on the fit I that never could go back.

My bug is rather the kelly closure on anything that is not an actual kelly bag. I even do not wear my (otherwise very beautiful) jumping boots too often because it just feels too much….

Funny, because I have shoes with the "H" in leather and it doesn't bother me, but the big metal H just is not my thing.

Unpopular opinions: :hysteric:

- I have never ever ever figured out what my personal “pre-spend” is.
- Constance belts are not attractive and make wearing a shirt challenging.
- (ducks for cover) Black Bags are boring.

H should bring back the website that shows all of the current scarf designs and possible color ways.

YESSSSS I totally miss that!

I don't like the Collier de Chien motif on jewelry. I mean the name quite literally means a dog collar. Why would I want to wear a dog collar on my body? Unless you're into that kind of thing of course... :giggle:

It’s supposed to be a little naughty and subversive. :graucho:

My unpopular opinion is I really don’t get the hype around some of the most popular H items:

- Calvis and Bastias - I think they’re fine from a utility perspective, but I don’t quite understand needing more than 1 of each

They’re relatively inexpensive but useful pieces. To me, they’re kind of like jelly beans, in lots of fun colors. Also, utility-wise they’re great for the very small bags (KP, MKII, etc). Since we are still mid-construction, half the time my day bag is a… Patagonia Fanny Pack :wtf: [need an H bag that’s as easy as that!]

1. Chypre are atrocious. They do not flatter anyone’s feet.

My SA found some chpres for me finally, but he doesn’t like them, and my DH doesn’t like them on me either, so I passed.

Hmm. :confused1: I do agree that the Chypre is NOT an attractive shoes. I always hated them until my SA made me try on a pair…wow, they are really comfortable, though.

The Oran sandals are widely overhyped and overpriced. While I get the timeless appeal, it's also superr basic and plenty of reasonably priced, high quality copycats.

I avoided and denounced the Orans for many years, until I tried them. Now I wear them constantly for as long as the weather allows. It is truly a love or hate thing with Orans, and they either fit your feet perfectly or horrendously.

Oh, by the way - most bag organizers will distort your bag by pressing into the interior pockets.

While I’m at it, the scarf photos on the website are beyond useless - 25+ years of collecting and I can count the number of times I’ve seen a scarf worn pirate-style on one hand. I have more eyeballs than the number of times I’ve seen one worn as a top. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again:

Let's test this:

- H bags are the quintessence of granny bags. They are the anchor that will tie down (and sink) your style forever into "grannydom".

- More important though, they are the ultimate tulip bulbs, let's call that phenomenon the "leather tulip bulb bubble", one which I cannot wait to see pop.

- They are rumblings of a major financial crisis ahead of us; when that crash happens, taking down with it the luxury industry and therefore the whole designer handbag market, I am very curious to see what become of the designer handbag game.

- I am even more curious to see what will become of those huge handbag collections, and those "investment bags" (whatever that means), chief among which those H bags collections...

- In any case, the H pop, when it happens, will be the most satisfying pop sound ever...
