What's your criteria for culling the Coach herd?

I think they both will.....one has overcome a lot in her life and is in a good spot now but not with a lot of extra money for things and I sent her 5 bags.....my other friend always compliments me on my bags but won't spend money on herself..just others....I sent her 3 bags. The three of us have been good friends since we were little and it just felt good to do this one little thing for them and I hope it brings them a little bit of happy this week when they get their packages.
You are a very kind and thoughtful person and friend!

You are incredibly sweet and that is such a lovely thing to do. I am sure they will be thrilled to receive their packages. They are lucky ladies to have such a generous friend!

Thanks! One of my gf's got her box today..... she keeps texting me.....she's going to make me cry! She's happy :)

I recently did a HUGE cull of the herd, and sold a lot of bags I swore I would never, ever sell. I think I'm down to 8 bags now, and I might sell one or two of those. I think I had almost 30 bags at one point.

When I was working, it was easy to justify having so many bags, because I carried a different one each week and liked to show them off to my coworkers. But now I don't have coworkers to ooh and ahh over my bags, and I'm just in a different place in life. So, I decided to go for quality over quantity. I decided to only keep bags that made me overjoyed, and not ones that only made me happy or happy-ish. I also sold off anything that required a lot of babying or isn't going to last, (that meant that most of my Legacy stuff went out the door. It's so beautiful, I love the colors, but they wont last, so I sold them off before they got trashed, while I could still get good money for them).

The criteria going forward is to only carry bags that knock my socks off AND will last without a lot of babying.

Honestly, selling the first one was hard, but once the money starts coming back into your bank account, you get over it real fast and start looking around saying "What else can I sell that I won't miss?!?!" It feels great to have a gorgeous bag on your arm, but it feels even better to have money in the bank!

Thanks for posting this! Maybe I'll get up the nerve to part with those bags that have to be babied.

Jadis & Bobbyjean, you've inspired me!

I decided to see what bags I could live without. I have a Pinterest board of my collection, so I went through it and was able to decide on 5 bags. They are bags that rarely get used, so it is time for them to go to a loving home :). The bags that remain are ones that are sentimental or bags that still make me happy when I carry them.

I have listed some on eBay, and it felt really good, so I'm confident it's the right decision. I'm giving the others to my sister and mom, and I know they'll be super excited to receive them.

I also had a glitter lizard Sadie with tags still on, so it went back yesterday.

So THANK YOU Jadis and Bobbyjean! You rock!

About a month ago i pulled out all my Coach bags. I knew i had too many and it was making me anxious! I knew i needed to do something about it. I got into Coach in 2010 and since then had accumulated a total of 73 bags :shame: plus accessories...most i got at the outlet for a great deal but what was the point in that if i had bags with tags on still sitting in my closet?

This is what i did, i offered the bags first to my mom, i did not sell them to her, simply asked her to pick and keep what she liked. Next, the bags with the tags on that i did not truly LOVE, went back to the outlet/coach store. Lastly i only kept 5, yes you read that right, 5 bags that i was in LOVE with AND that were functional AND i was only allowed to keep colours that i could wear all the time with almost anything in my wardrobe.

To do this felt great! I did not do this for financial reasons but the money coming back did feel great! :) i wanted a more realistic collection of bags that i could carry and enjoy and use. I have the bags that i absolutely LOVE and will carry them till they fall apart. I had to make sure the bags in my collection will wear well over the years and that i will NOT get bored if i carried them for months/years on end. This greatly helped me to achieve the kind of collection i was after.

I have a total of 7 bags now, 5 Coach, 1 Alexander Wang and 1 Louis Vuitton and i LOVE THEM ALL! Next i attacked accessories, i own one wallet for each bag that i have, plus a couple of card cases and pencil cases and such, and i am ok with that.

Let us know how you are doing both health wise and on culling the heard! Good Luck! :) its doable just takes some time..

It does!! Not only do I have a collection of my most beloved bags but I no longer have a feeling of anxiousness tied down to my collection, I feel liberated, I know it is silly but I do feel great!!! Plus the extra $$$$ in the bank account do not hurt either :D

What you did was great. I need to consider this, too. I've carried Coach exclusively for the last 20 or so years and I have around 50 Coach bags + wallets, wristlets, etc. I used to buy 2-3 Coach bags per year and give older ones to my cousin but in the last year I went crazy buying Legacy bags and accessories on sale.

I'm finding that there are about 5 bags (Legacy Duffle, Business Tote, Rory, Tanner, and Candace) that I really enjoy carrying and fit my lifestyle. I have duplicate colors for each of these styles and other bags I got on sale that were "too good to pass up". I'm learning to walk away from the good sales but access to FOS doesn't help!. I have some time off work next month and I'm going to consider rounding things up to pare them down.
