What's the most disappointing bag you've ever bought?

A DVF satchel with a cross-body strap. I can't remember the name of the model, but when I bought it, it was so perfect -- gorgeous blue leather, lots of pockets, could be both dressy and casual. But the snap closure was a pain, and within a couple of months, the stitching was coming apart.

I fell in love with an anya hindmarch featured several years ago in real simple. I ordered it by phone. When it arrived I realized it actually looked like a bowling bag on me. Plus I'm real short and it was a big bag. The sales lady was actually very nice and allowed me to exchange it. Anya does not do refunds. So I was convinced to get the carker. And I do admit it was one of the it bags that fall. When I got the carker I was again shocked how big and heavy it was. I never really used it cuz it looks like a small overnight bag. Carrying it as a cross body was never an option since the strap is hideously ugly. It's canvas cotton material and striped in blue and white. Huh? Really? At that price point? So she sits in her dustbag in my closet and I will never buy a bag without seeing it in person evvvvver again!

My ex-boyfriend bought me a black hobo from the Sak for our anniversary. I saw it online and I thought I was in love with it, but when it arrived, I was really disappointed. The front had a flap but there was nothing to keep it there. So if someone wanted, they could just lift up the flap and take something. Since I commute everyday, I can't possibly carry a bag without some kind of closure. The leather was pretty durable, but it was way smaller than I thought. I carry practically my whole life with me, so I've probably only used it once. It's just sitting in my closet. Now I know not to buy anything online unless I've seen it IRL before.

This is a very enlightening thread...........so many bags I had desired, but thankfully didn't get are mentioned here :sweatdrop:
Trying on in the store is not a true 'road test' of a bag.
Thanks all!

I was so excited about the deal I got at the store that I didn't think about the function of the bag. I love crossbody bags but it is too thin to hold much more than my wallet and cell phone.

LV Alma in epi leather and LV petit Noe in epi leather. Both just feel so stiff and plasticky ! Oh yes and the Keepall in epi leather. What a waste of my money. In contrast, I love my LV Speedy, Deauville, Monceau and Saumur :-) in monogram canvas.
