What's the current practice/timing of placing special orders in the US stores?

Some folks have heard that special orders are being placed all through the year. Others have heard that they are placed in late January/early February, immediately after the spring podium, or in late June/early July right after the fall podium. Have also heard different months/times at different stores. What's the latest on this?

My understanding is that the STORES submit their orders to Paris twice a year, after podium. But they can collate and take orders from their clients at any time of the year.

I don't know about specific stores, but this is my understanding from my store in Asia.
