what's the big deal with tiffany and co. ???????

If you are to get her something from Tiffanys, get her the smaller items...like the ring. A necklace is a bit much in my opinion. And yes, you don't want to scare the girl off. That happens. Nothing screams "stalker" or "love sick puppy" like a guy overdoing gifts.

The 1837 line is one of their most popular and affordably priced lines. I've bought a number of items from that line.

Keep your goal at Tiffanys...to a single item. That way, you can build up the collection as time goes on.

My personal recommendations from that line,

Bar drop earrings:
Tiffany & Co. | Item | Tiffany 1837™ bar drop earrings. Sterling silver. | United States

The ring (you mentioned this, that is why I'm posting it here)
Tiffany & Co. | Item | Tiffany 1837™ ring. Sterling silver. | United States

Unless it is this ring???
Tiffany & Co. | Item | Tiffany 1837™ ring. Sterling silver. | United States

The bar pendant for it's simplicity and classiness.
Tiffany & Co. | Item | Tiffany 1837™ bar pendant. Sterling silver. | United States

I totally disagree.

I think a ring would be very difficult to wear by itself - I think a necklace or earrings is much better.

Nothing screams "keeper" like a nice gift.

well guys and girls, thanks for all the replies. i don't know man,i'm in nassau,bahamas.......in paradise, for the last 8 months with not a care in the world. i know it's such a cliche, but you only live once.who know's,if i pass up the opportunity i may wander the rest of my life.all i want from this girl,is when she is 70 years old,to be able to think back 40 years, and remember who gave her the first tiffany jewelry she ever owned, and every time she looks in the mirror and see's her jewelry, she will smile a little bit and think of the bahamas, and me...and all the good times we had.i guess i'm a sentimental guy too.quote]

That was so sweet! She's a very lucky girl and you seem like a cool guy! Go with your instict and you can't go wrong! I'm sure she will love anything in a little Blue box!

I don't think you should get her a ring. To me, a ring is a sign of commitment even if it's not an engagement right. You've only been going out for a couple months, so I don't think you want to scare her off. I say, go for the necklace!

Tiffany has beautiful designs (I love most things with the Peretti name on them!) and they have a legacy of quality.

I wouldn't buy someone a Tiffany piece after three months - but if it doesn't scare her, she'll never forget you.

The difference between T&Co and WalMart is that, if I have a problem with my piece, I can take it to Tiffany and they will repair it. Usually, at walmart, I have to throw it away, or melt it for the silver. Also, the minute a walmart or other no-name piece leaves the store, it depriciates 90.% When Tiffany leaves the store, it depriciates 60%

well, after reading all the post's from you nice, and i can only asume, gorgeous ladies........ i have decided to go ahead and give the gal both the ring and the necklace thing. as far as being a stalker,or coming off as one,she knows i don't roll like that.although she did say to me the other day,and i quote " brian, why can't you stalk me ? " hahahah. In my profession,i go all over the world and meat all kind's of people, and i usualey just keep my distance and my mouth shut, for the simple fact that i was born a ramblin man,and there is no need to start something when you have to end it when the work is done and i have to move on.but,in this case i think the girl is worth it,and $400.00 worth odf jewelry isn't that big a deal to me. so i'm gonna drop both of them on her for valentine's day.this time is different i guess,b/c i like the gal,and she is british too,and damn i can't help but love the accent.i'm a sucker i reckon.anyway, thank you all for the comments and suggestions. c ya!!!!!

Tiffany is a reputable jeweler with great service. Their silver jewelry lines are not their best stuff. They have had some amazing artists design works for them throughout their history, like Jean Schlumberger, Paloma Picasso, and right now Frank Gehry. Their silver jewelry lines are very simple and pretty and can be worn every day with anything. I think it's a sweet gift & i don't think you are setting the bar too high for yourself. It's a really nice gift that she will get tons of use out of. i must say as well as being terribly romantic it is also much more practical than spending the same amount of money on flowers & candy & dinner that won't be around in two weeks. You're a good man Charlie Brown.

I've never been a Tiffany gal and know that many of your adore Tiffany jewelry. What about Tiffany jewelry makes it so covetable? I honestly often can't tell the sterling silver ones from ones I see in a department store. Please educate me :smile1:

status symbol.
safe, classic designs.

there are a few tiffany pieces that i love - the classic solitaire, some of the elsa peretti (well mostly the bean pendant), some paloma picasso rings, the sevillana bracelet, and the frank gehry collection. but i'm not a classic girl, heart bracelets and pendants were never my thing.
some pieces are very beautiful in a very classic way just maybe a little too classic for me. also i don't like it when things get too popular and everyone has it.

i think the elsa peretti lines are safe and classic, yes. but if you venture to the other lines (other than the heart/return to tiffany), you can find some awesome designs. plus i love tiffany's dependability and customer service ... i wear a size 4 ring and tiffany is the only store in my experience that ever carries the size without having to special order/pay extra!

if you are talking about the sterling line/ vs department store silver...not much difference in quality

but, it is a chance for lower price point buying, and having the whole "tiffany experience" without having to spend many thousands

i think it is fun to have something from tiffany, and it makes a beautiful gift presentation

plus, if something breaks..they will fix it for you.
