^ Not sure...they've been adding a lot more made for factory (MFF) lately at Desert Hills / Cabazon. There were some older boutique styles (maybe two or three seasons back) but nothing recent and not very many. It could be that the MFF line is meant to augment inventory when there's not a lot of boutique transfers available.

I remember last fall, maybe late October time frame) they had current boutique styles at the outlet--the new Miky, Shade, g-bags and some other Fall 2011 styles. It was really odd to see bags that were still in the boutique.

In December / January they had a whole MFF g-line with all sorts of different style g-bags. I bought one because I loved the size and color but it was definitely lessor quality--most notably slightly crooked placement of the studs upon close inspection. Here's one of the MFF g-bags (not my auction):

Don't know what's going on with their strategy, but it seems to be in flux. ;)

Yes, Steve is still there. I am not sure about shipping to Canada> I do know he can only ship to your billing address and signature is required. When you contact him, he will probably ask what styles you like and will email pics of what he has. He is very helpful.

Welcome to TPF... I'm from M'sia too. Nice seeing you here. :D

I was in Orlando last Friday (5/6) and they had a decent selection. I specifically asked if the bag I was looking at (a Restyling D Bag Piccola in a lovely shade of gray!) was part of the MFF line -- because I'm so new to Tod's -- and the saleswoman looked at me as if I was insane.

It was actually pretty funny. :lolots:

I'm still not sure, but I have to say I love the bag and the color, so it really doesn't matter.

Why did she look at your as if you were insane? Cos she had nv heard of MFF or she was appalled that you knew about it?

More like shocked I'd even question where the bags would come from, she replied quickly that they were directly from the boutique and were older colors.

Like I said, I'm too much of a Tod's newbie to really know the difference - I've read the MFF description and this doesn't look like that, but...I have no idea.

^ I've found the easiest way is by the hardware. The "flat head" studs seem to be on the MFF bags and the "round head" studs are on the boutique bags. Plus, the boutique bags tend to have more hardware--and it feels more substantial.

Also, if you look at the MFF leather it's not the same high quality you would find on a TOD'S boutique bag.

BTW, I have seen boutique versions of the Restyling D Bag Piccola in various colors recently at the outlets.

Ah, that does help - they are round head studs and the bag feels heavy, leather and hardware-wise. I think I just doubted myself when she gave me that odd look. For a second, I was doubting flat versus round, because I had read your post before we went.

Thanks! :smile1:

I bought one from the outlet with a flat head.. but .. ALL leather G-bags I've seen come with the flat head? I haven't seen one with a round head? I've seen the round head studs on other D and T bags but never the G. :shrugs:
Perhaps ALL G-bags come with flat heads ?

Visited the TOD'S outlet at Desert Hills today. Most of the inventory was the new 'made for factory' line. The line looks cheaper--the leather is not supple, the lining is plain, the stitching is not always straight, and the hardware is different. For instance, the leather g-bags have 'flat head' studs, instead of the 'round head on boutique g-bags.

May I know how you know of the MFF? Is it comfirmed there's such a thing? Or is it just your opinion? were you able to compare one from the boutique and one from the outlet side by side to come to this conclusion? Just wanted to know. Thanks! :smile1:

I call them MFF...meaning made for the factory outlet specifically.

Yes, my TOD'S SA confirmed me the existence.

Yes, I have compared side-by-side. I have two g-bags, which I purchased directly from the TOD'S boutique, and two small MFF g-bags. Comparing them you can 100% see the difference in both quality and craftmanship.

I also have five leather TOD'S bags so I am very familiar with the brand. :p

Don't get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with MFF...it's just I like to know what I am buying...that way I can make an informed decision. :D
