What would you do about the FAKE LV GUY?

Can anyone really do anything about it? Valley Fair shopping center in Santa Clara has a booth that sells fake Hermes, Marc Jacobs, Fendi, Chloe and Balenciaga bags! I can't believe it! I would be so embarrassed to sell that crap in a store that sells the real deal. I've even walked by with DH and said out loud, "Yah babe, those are fake!" It's sooo gross! But they continue selling the crap.

Okay ladies, I think this is kind of excessive here. There guys with the bag carts are very low on the list of people LV or any official want to be up against. There are several of them across the street from LV in 5th ave and 57th in NYC. It's like being mad at the McDonald's cashier for making Americans fat. These guys stand outside often in 90 degree heat to sell $25 bags. MOST of these bags are inspired bags.

They buy from a dealer, who is not even who you should report. The dealer buys from an importer, who buys from an exporter, who buys it from some factory overseas.

They really don't feel for the intellectual rights and your evil eyes would really be wasted here.

As for the women who buy these bags, they often just love the design, and don't even know it's designer. They don't know how much a designer costs. Some do, and if they choose to buy a fake, then whatever. It doesn't make them worse people, just less educated about designer bags and copyrights and intellectual property.

Smartest post in here. Very valid points.

Run up and push his cart into a dumpster.
No... just kidding. I agree with those who said you should report it to Starbucks and LV. Maybe the cops too, as it is illegal.

I understand that some people do not want to pay for the real thing and they love their fakes as much as I love my real ones. I don't believe it's right but I see it everyday all day long. This women who just want a taste of the LV and they buy a fake. I do believe they have never heard where the money goes or comes from. they just want that taste of what we got..I would rather carry a real no name purse than a fake anything. I feel bad for the guy on the cart who is the middle man. but I work as a Assistant Manager at a very big retailer and I make the kind of money to buy the stuff I want but the people who work for me do not and how can blame them for just wanting a piece of a life they see as better than what they got. It's not money that makes you happy but it sure helps. I just feel sad for them

Although I hate fake designer bags as much as most folks on TPF, I agree with Cola262. While TPF encourages "shallow obsessing" which we all enjoy, there are so many perspectives to consider. Personally, I'm bothered more by the fact that I've reported so many fakes to Ebay, and they've done nothing. Countless people are buying fake bags on Ebay, for hundreds of dollars! While I'm not condoning the fake bag cart vending, at least the cart guys are not ripping people off for hundreds of dollars. The other issue, concerning the women who buy the fakes, is an economic one. Let's consider the fact that some people's total monthly income is far less than the retail price of an authentic LV bag. Some might argue that one shouldn't desire to have the "look of the rich and famous" if they can't afford the authentic look, but I disagree. Everyone has an ego that needs a little feeding, every now and then (and if TPF is any indication, our egos might need constant feeding). Is any socioeconomic class group immune to this extremely fashion conscious society we live in, where we are bombarded by expensive luxury items worn by celebrities and super models, whom we adore? This, I believe, is another reason why many women buy fake bags. They, like us, are simply engaging in a little "shallow obsessing," even if on an extremely tight budget. So, while I think we should all do our part to promote authentic designer bags, let's not lose our compassion for others. Love to all...:heart:

I'm with you John. Pyrotechnics!!!:rochard::rochard:

*Burns the fake bags in the guy's cart while jamming out to "Burn baby burn, burn!!!" :jammin:*

Today one of my classmates who never comes to class RANDOMLY came up to me and asked if I wanted, or knew of anyone that wanted, any Coach or Louis Vuitton bags. I looked up at him, then saw he was rolling around a suitcase with Coach and LV bags. :throwup: I nicely said "No thanks" and laid my head back on the desk. :push:
