Thanks BigA!
Did Santa bring you something sparkly for Christmas? If so, pics please!!!
We do it backwards. For hubby and I, we do big ticket items throughout the year, for no special occasion. This way, there is no way to keep count!:heart:

For special occasions such as Christmas, we keep it low profile & simple. Hubby wanted new AirPods; I wanted a boring treadmill.
This is my sparkly boring treadmill :heart:: https://shop.truefitness.com/products/treadmills/performance-300-treadmill

Fruitcake was the big hit this Christmas! OMG... Assumption Abbey has the best fruitcake ever. It is super moist and packed with nuts. I never quite liked fruitcake, but I love love love this. You're a baker and like sweets... I think you and hubby will like this:

i LOOOVE fruitcake. and it's so difficult to find in Denmark. a lot of people here are already repulsed with just raisin on bread. that's why whenever I go to Paris I buy fruitcake slices which are available all year round at department stores. :D

It’s been forever since I’ve posted on tpf but somehow wandered in here today. Love all the Rolex pics! I only have one that I stole from my husband. I bought the wg guilloché bracelet from vca but recently have been into Boucheron. Also in rotation is pomellato, Marla Aaron, Tiffany hardware, graff, Cartier and I want to add a verdura piece soon too! Just need to decide which one

LOOOVE fruitcake.

+100 agree :)

@allanrvj , a description of black cake, aka Caribbean fruit cake from Laurie Colwin is quoted here

There is fruitcake, and there is Black Cake, which is to fruitcake what the Brahms piano quartets are to Muzak. … Black Cake, like truffles and vintage Burgundy, is deep, complicated, and intense. It has taste and aftertaste. It demands to be eaten in a slow, meditative way. The texture is complicated too—dense and light at the same time."

ETA: fruit in this cake is like a precious jewel lol

Thank you! I am going to find some black cake and order it!

For fruit cake lovers... Assumption Abbey has sold out of their fruitcakes. There is a batch that will be ready in two weeks which they will start shipping. When that batch runs out, that's it. They are making more now, but it takes 3 months to soak the fruitcake, so the next ship date starts in March.

How do I know this? Because I emailed them and asked.:heart:
The website said they are out of fruitcakes; they also stopped baking in early December to celebrate Christmas and deep clean. Yet their website said they would ship it Jan. Hmm... how can you ship in Jan if you stop baking and it takes three months for the fruitcake to cure? The math did not add up.
Hence I asked. They said they have a small batch curing now and once sold out, you have to wait until March.
Inquiring minds wanted to know.

Thanks for the tip on black cake! I have never heard of it. Sounds yummy too!

Hope it’s OK to post here - I don’t own these pieces but I’m on a little jewelry “browsing spree” (not a shopping spree since I’m trying to build a wishlist rather than actually purchase immediately). I tried these things on and thought y’all might like to see my pics even though they’re not very good :flowers:

Buy what you love  and welcome!

I thought long and hard about the foundrae piece (YG chain with four medallions) that I tried on last week. I listened to the various pros and cons everyone kindly shared; plus everything DH had to say (he adored it). Then we visited a variety of other boutiques on my list and bergdorfs to see alternatives.

I went back this week with my own pendants, to determine whether the chain was well made and versatile. DH and I both loved the way it all looked together, but the definitive factor for me what that the pieces also worked well separately and with my own russian aquamarine pin/pendant (fourth pic) and my borrocal torso pendant (which is quite heavy). It all worked together really well

Third pic is what I purchased: foundrae necklace all together

thank you all again for all of your help. Those of you that were skeptical of it, also really helped DH and me to see all the issues and come to a better decision
Oh I love this look very much. Thank you for sharing this with us!
