I hear ya!. I generally carry two pens- my good one that I do not lend out and a good cheap one (like pilot) that I will lend out and won't really care if people forget to return. (Although I'm pretty good about asking for my pen back.

I don't carry pens in my purse anymore. I used to, but I had one leak all over the lining of one of my bags. I was really upset because I liked the bag a lot, but luckily, it wasn't really expensive.
I've got a small pink Tiffany pen in my LV agenda because it's so pretty and it matched... but I also have a cheapo blue Bic! Those are my favorite pens. Nothing writes better (and I would know, I used to have a serious pen collecting/hoarding/addiction! Lol!)
I have a Pentel "energel" black clicker pen ... it's in a slot in my purse-to-go organizer, so I don't have so much fear of leaking. I also carry a yellow highlighter & a blue gel pen in my make up bag. It's a habit from law school that I cannot annotate anything in black pen!
