Compartments, a la Maggie. The Phoebe doesn't bother the hell out of me like the Maggie does. I guess it helps that the straps are thinner too, so it stays on my shoulder. I also like the color/texture of the P I have, vs the Maggie I once had (and sold). Ugh, I hated that M bag.

That's about the only thing I've come around about, except maybe pebbled leathers--but I don't like all of them--it's bag specific.

Still hate:
patent leather
sig
flaps
saf leather
embossed leathers

Since getting my Mini Riley, bag handles that does not go down when using the long strap...:smile1:
Compartments like in small Phoebe but not on smaller bags like Minetta...:p
Light Gold hardware...love my Phoebe and my Madison Mini Satchel ( I just carry her on the crook of my arm or as a handbag)...

Deal breakers for me:
Breakaway Zipper
Bags with long straps which does not have its own rings to attach to...And the ring attachment should be balance on both sides (I just cannot do one in front and one at the back).
Animal prints

I admit that I have been avoiding the phoebe bags because of my aversion to maggies. I love the look of maggies and I've wanted to love them but I just can't. Every time I put one on my shoulder at the outlet or boutique Ive hated the configuration of the bag. The double straps slip off my shoulder, the compartments drive me crazy, and they are hard bags to get into or to try and find anything!

Pretty just isn't good enough IMO and I have always left without a maggie.

Are we on the same wave length!! I have so tried to love the Maggie but never did!!! All for the same reasons that you listed!!! I have a Maggie and always wondered why I bought it because I HATE IT!!!! Maggie is now sitting in my closet gathering dust.

Flaps (have a non coach that I love)
Breakaway zippers. I need a zipper though but now it's ok if it's breakaway.
Hobos where everything falls to the bottom...I just use cosmetic cases. Hobos DO sit on your shoulder nicely.
Bags with 2 straps. I use to hate them but realized they open easier to see what's inside.
Gold hardware within reason. It looks ok on tan/brown/gold bags.
Patchwork within reason.

The only real deal breakers I have (besides fur) are heavy bags and bags that won't stay on my shoulders. I generally test them out at the store for a bit. It's pretty easy for me to tell if one will stay on or not. Don't care too much about hardware, as long as whatever has been used looks good with the bag, though I tend towards gold HW. I used to say no to animal print because it just doesn't seem like it'd go with enough "stuff" in my wardrobe (I wear a lot of shirts with pattern on them) but I do like my Madison convertible crossbody in zebra print fabric and have found things to wear with it.

I have never been excited about animal print bags and I don't have many fabric items, but I've just purchased the Madison NS Tote in Zebra Print fabric at the outlet because I think it is really attractive, lightweight, and fun!

Dogleash clasps. I used to not like the openness of totes that had that, but then I got a purse organizer with a zip top, so it alleviates that issue of mine.

I also was not really a fan of pebbled leather. It still is not my most favorite, I am still pretty picky about how pebbled a bag is, but it doesn't bother me like it used to. Especially since the Legacy drawstring of last Fall, and then the newest Bleecker bags.
