all my favorite things that i have bought on trips to paris were non-designer - usually unique items from boutiques that couldn't be purchased elsewhere. I do love french brands, but figured i can buy most of those things at home or on other trips.

Hope you have a wonderful time and find some nice things to commemorate your trip!

+1

I have several as I've been there 4 times.

LV Mono Speedy 35
Goyard Okinawa Tote
LV Roxbury Drive in Amaranthe
Goyard St Louis PM in white
Hermès Collier de Chien in black veau chamonix with GHW
Hermès Double Tour bracelet in Ultraviolet chevre with GHW

I just came back from Paris the week before last. A must on my list was a Longchamp Le Pliage Eiffel, a pair of Chanel earrings, an Hermes Twilly, a Laduree keychain and perfume.

And then I also purchased an Eva clutch, ZCP, 4 more Longchamp bags and souvenirs for family.

I think it is entirely up to you. Enjoy yourself! There is so much to see, eat, smell and do...it's just an amazing city. It was my first visit and definitely will not be my last. Just a reminder: bring a good pair of walking shoes (heels and cobblestones do not mix well), a washcloth and an umbrella.

Here's one excited Paris first-timer looking forward for the travel, Adele concert, and of course, shopping this coming summer. I think we're pretty okay on our itinerary, but my heart is still not set on what to buy in Paris.

Paris is one of my dream places to visit and I know purchasing something from there will make my first visit really special.

I don't have a Chanel yet, and as my first thought, wow, first Chanel on my first Paris trip! Heaven!...One problem though, I'm not really feeling the classic flap or boy. For some reason, I'm turned off on items that everyone wants. I also have WOCs in other brand (Ferragamo, Burberry) so I'm also contemplating if I need a Chanel WOC. But I have my mind open for a possible change of heart when I get there [emoji6]

I was a Goyard convert last year with their reversible Anjou in black. I like this tote a lot, but I usually don't buy same stuff in different colors.

I'm also pretty set with my LV empreinte speedy in aubergine. So unless I see a unique find in Paris store, I think I'm skipping LV.

I love Hermes. I have a Picotin and Cabag, but I don't think I'm eyeing yet for a Birkin or Kelly. These 2 doesn't fit my age and lifestyle yet. Should I just get a bracelet as my "Paris" item? Sandals?

I still have a number of months to think things through for this fun problem, and maybe sharing your "I Got It In Paris" item will help [emoji6]

Thanks in advance!

Buy something you come across by chance and fall in love with. Don't think it through and plan so much.

Hi RIA!

Congrats on your upcoming trip! I can't wait to get back to Paris!

I agree with Mundodabolsa, buy something you come across by chance. Enjoy the thrill of shopping in Paris! We passed the Lancel store at 8 Place de l'Opéra when we were walking to the old Opera House. Walked in to browse and walked out with this red Lancel bag! When people ask where I got it I love telling them I bought it in Paris.

Have a wonderful trip!

thanks everyone for your inputs!

I just got back from Paris. Of course, I went to Hermes & Chanel, but nothing in those stores called my name [emoji53]

I did buy though my Cartier love bracelet, some Longchamp Eiffel Tower bags (red, blue, bluish green), and a Faure Le Page gray carry on. I'm a happy bee [emoji219]

My favorite things purchased in Paris have been: a gorgeous trench coat, a pair of light beige suede Mary Janes with a chunky heel (it was the '90s, after all!), lingerie (the fit is so much better for me!), and perfume. Enjoy your trip!

Hi Dear, Congrats on both gorgeous goodies!! I love both in your photos!! :)
Can I ask which store did you purchase your lovely Cartier Love while you were in Paris? ( and how much price if you don't mind me asking? ) How % was VAT? I plan to go to Paris again next month and this time hopefully purchase exact same Love bracelet ( I just love without diamond like yours! ) TIA! xoxo

LV DE speedy 30, DE mini pochette, and a leather wallet for my dad. I also got a pencil from the Musée D'Orsay as I love collecting pens/pencils/stationary. This all happened in 2009 so I'm due for another trip to Paris and hopefully I'll get something from Chanel or Hermès
