Congrats on your first trip to Paris! So fun! I've purchased bags from Chanel, LV and Valentino there and only the Chanels were planned items. The others we discovered while enjoying the shopping experience in Paris. I actually had my heart set on buying a Goyard there, but was disappointed with them when I got there. My advice is to have maybe one or two planned items on your list and then just enjoy your shopping and see what you find. Enjoy your trip! We'll be there in April.

Here's one excited Paris first-timer looking forward for the travel, Adele concert, and of course, shopping this coming summer. I think we're pretty okay on our itinerary, but my heart is still not set on what to buy in Paris.

Paris is one of my dream places to visit and I know purchasing something from there will make my first visit really special.

I don't have a Chanel yet, and as my first thought, wow, first Chanel on my first Paris trip! Heaven!...One problem though, I'm not really feeling the classic flap or boy. For some reason, I'm turned off on items that everyone wants. I also have WOCs in other brand (Ferragamo, Burberry) so I'm also contemplating if I need a Chanel WOC. But I have my mind open for a possible change of heart when I get there [emoji6]

I was a Goyard convert last year with their reversible Anjou in black. I like this tote a lot, but I usually don't buy same stuff in different colors.

I'm also pretty set with my LV empreinte speedy in aubergine. So unless I see a unique find in Paris store, I think I'm skipping LV.

I love Hermes. I have a Picotin and Cabag, but I don't think I'm eyeing yet for a Birkin or Kelly. These 2 doesn't fit my age and lifestyle yet. Should I just get a bracelet as my "Paris" item? Sandals?

I still have a number of months to think things through for this fun problem, and maybe sharing your "I Got It In Paris" item will help [emoji6]

Thanks in advance!
Paris is so breathtaking.....enjoy your trip. I bought a Paula Cademartori bag that is so beautiful and reminds me of my trip

We spend very little time shopping while on vacation (more time eating, hahaha!), but I did pick up a navy Longchamp Veau Foulonné tote on my first trip to Paris, and on another trip, a purple Givenchy Pandora. It's defintely fun to have a reminder of a lovely vacation.

Hope you have a great time!

I got a tea set from the gift shop in the Louvre that was Louis XIV themed but that was back in high school. If I went now, I would certainly be picking something up from Moynat.

The first time I went to Paris I felt like I "had" to get something in order to mark the moment, so I bought my first Chanel (Boy) and some jewelry. What I realize now is that I didn't need to buy anything to mark the visit, you will never forget it, nothing compares to it. Sit back, enjoy yourself, have an open mind, and visit the sites and if you see something that you love, get it. It doesn't matter if everybody else has it (keeping in mind that not everybody can afford a Chanel or the trip).

Have fun! and safe travels!

Buy something you come across by chance and fall in love with. Don't think it through and plan so much.

I agree with this. Granted I live in Paris now but when I used to come and travel for fun the items that became the most special to me were the ones that I just fell in love with wandering some smaller neighborhoods. Like a bag from a new brand or dresses from a designer that I never saw in America.

My first time in Paris, this last August, I bought my beloved Goyard Voltaire...amongst this I was lucky enough to purchase the KDT in Rosegold/Black Epsom!

Looking forward to everyone's great advice here! I'm also headed to Paris later this year and planning my acquisitions :)

I've been going over my "wish list" items and seeing what is most favorably priced in Paris given the exchange rates/VAT refund - maybe that is a good place to start as well?

oh my gosh - please go see the Faure Le Page boutique. Apparently oldest leather goods luxury handbags in Paris. I think they have one in galeries lafayette too. I also recommend going to get hot chocolate at Angelina. Jewelry you are spoilt for choice. :D:D:D

All my favorite things that I have bought on trips to Paris were non-designer - usually unique items from boutiques that couldn't be purchased elsewhere. I do love french brands, but figured I can buy most of those things at home or on other trips.

Hope you have a wonderful time and find some nice things to commemorate your trip!

Here are some of my favorites [emoji4]
I got everything without planning.
I've always wanted a baby pink Chanel classic flap and there she was[emoji4] But don't plan so much you'll definitely fall in love with something beautiful.
