Adding the depth and range of of colours are just amazing & an opal seldom looks the same twice.
Mum had a lovely tiny stone she bought herself. It never came off and was in dishwater and laundry as well as cold water sailing and gardening.

My favourite is my boulder opal. Every piece is individual and no two are alike.
My engagement ring is an emerald, I also love tourmaline, and labradorite.
My uncle was an opal miner in South Australia all my life, he's now passed. He gifted us many opals which my daughter actually loves and wears a lot.
No one mentioned labradorite so here it is for those wondering. Its grey or mossy in colour, and has a blue or green shimmer at certain angles.

Tanzanite! They come in such a lovely variety of shades from mermaid-y colours to a blue very similar to classic sapphire.

Alexandrite..loves that it changes colors
Colored stones are better such as sapphires, rubies, alexAndrites or cats eye. They are way rarer. I like stones like alex and cats eye that you dont see in the jewelry stores often. Diamonds? You can buy in all sizes. But somehow anything with diamonds hikes up the price. You can even see diamonds in sterling silver.

I love the color of London blue topaz and have been looking into some pieces on Etsy. One of the sellers I’m looking at is using “vvs1” to describe the stones. Shouldn’t non-diamond gemstones be described by a, aa, or aaa?
So hard to choose between here three. Emerald is my new fav.

Ruby. I wear ruby eternity ring every day. It makes me feel fearless ha! (weird I know). Love the colour especially when rubies are more red than pink, or pink/red depending on the light.
I also like the mysterious, sleek, black onyx. I just have to have it on me at least once a week.
