Also LV pochette metis in empreinte leather would fit your needs.
Those are my most used bags that I always circle back to.

I second the Celine Triomphe - to me it is as french as it gets
A nice contemporary alternative would be A.P.C.

Thank you all so much!!! I am loving each and every suggestion. Since my trip to Europe ( still most likely Paris but with my sister and aunt planning it who knows), is at least 15 or 16 months away I do intend to visit the Gucci outlet a few more times. If not for this bag clicking all my boxes I would have left with nothing, and it wasn't at all what I was looking for when I walked in!!
