What is your comfortable amount to spend on handbags?

My most expensive bag is probably my Chanel Boy old medium, but my husband paid for half for it as a present. So this perhaps didn't answer the question. The most that I, myself have spent on a bag is my Hermes leather GP 30 ($3000 something close to $4000? Can't remember). And I don't think I am comfortable spending anymore than that. Given the current economic climate, I am glad that my job isn't affected.

At this point in my life, 2k. I'm younger than many here who have been collecting for years and have more income. My most expensive bag retailed at 2600 but I got it for 1400 on a flash sale. I think the most I've paid was 2k for an LV bag. I could see paying more as I get older. But I honestly dislike the way Chanel looks and wouldn't buy it for any amount of money. Same for most Hermès.
I’m the same. I’m just getting in to luxury and working my way up the ladder. 2k is max for me. Kind of sad I didn’t get to obtain a Chanel whilst I had the chance but I’m content with it at this point.

5k is my hard max for Chanel. So thankful I got my flaps out of the way because they are my favorite so only seasonal pieces occasionally for me now. For Hermes my max is 15k as I’m not willing to paying crazy reseller prices for certain colored Kelly bags.

I have reevaluated my limit recently. I bought a Chanel jumbo 2 years ago. It was an absolutely beautiful bag. I just never felt comfortable using it. I sold it and it enabled me to purchase 2 other bags that I feel much more comfortable using, with money to spare. To enjoy my bags I must be able to use them without fear of normal wear and tear. My highest purchase was 3300. for a very LE LV. I think I’m comfortable at the 2200. mark but nothing higher. I considered a Capucines for a bit. They are beautiful, extremely expensive but all the pics I see of used bags show a lot of sag in the bottom. That would bother me. After selling the jumbo and purchasing 3 bags total this year, Im good for a couple of years at least. I am now priced out of Chanel so that won’t be a temptation in the future.

I know I'm not the average demographic on the PurseForum, but my max is $140. The most expensive bag in my collection is my Michael Kors Vivianne, and that is my mental cap for what I'm willing to spend, because I don't want to have a new "most expensive" bag.

Thanks for speaking up for this demographic, Oogle. There are a few bags I'm looking at that I hesitate to purchase because even secondhand, they're too many hundreds of dollars, let alone thousands. I'm glad this forum has room for all of us at different price points.

The most I've spent on a bag is $1,100 and my most expensive bag retailed for around $3000. My collection consists of Prada, Balenciaga, D&G, Proenza Schouler, Gucci, and lesser known brands like Sara Battaglia and Coccinelle. I am 25 and almost bought a Chanel this year (a huge leap from my usual budget) but had to check myself. I finally have the money for it, with how my career is starting and going, but it was totally against my goal of saving X amount of money by the end of the year, to save, invest, etc. I think I wouldn't have felt proud of myself if I had bought it at this time in my life. I remember dreaming of the Balenciaga City in my profile photo in that exact color when I was around 15... and I was able to purchase it in last year, almost brand new, due to the huge drop in resale value for the City. At the time, I knew the bag wasn't "trendy" anymore, but I knew it was timeless to me and would work well with my wardrobe for a very long time. Also, in regards to the Chanel I almost bought but didn't, I realized over the course of a few months that I didn't really love it but just wanted it because I could finally afford a Chanel. So, when I finally decide to purchase one, I'll make sure it's really the one!

I think, at this moment, I am not willing to go over $1500.

I love how thoughtful you were, not only about what you did or did not buy, but WHY you wanted it.
