Feeling good about making 2 relatively inexpensive purchases after all the damage I've done on pricey handbags recently:

A raffia bag picked up on a whim at a local boutique (along with black crocheted top).

And an older pre-loved blue Marc Jacobs multipocket bag, which arrived in mail today. I have the Prada bag Meryl Streep is carrying in the opening scene of The Devil Wears Prada and after introducing my daughter to the movie recently, I thought it would be fun to try to track down the MJ bag they make such a fuss over in the movie. I realize this isn't the exact bag but it reminded me of it and I love the color. An added bonus, I can wear with my blue Valentino boots!

@Kidney101 and @Biogirl1 I have not been able to stop thinking about those Bvlgari serpenti bags. While the Casablanca collab mosaic looking one is probably one of the coolest bags I have ever seen, you were lucky to snag it when you did because there is not even one listed anywhere on the resale market. That being said, I have found a few that I have narrowed it down to:

I love the white and could actually use a white evening bag as I only have 1 smaller white bag and it's very causal, however, I wish the eyes on the serpent were another color besides black. If it had the green eyes or any color eyes, I think that would be a no brainer. The green bag appears to be a beautiful color but I do have a small YSL 5 et 7 in vert fonce (dark green) and a couple other green bags that don't get much use. The white with fuschia is also striking with the diamond print. As for the pink bag (not even quite sure how to describe that shade of pink), I have lots of pink bags but I don't think I have anything this shade of pink. I love the colors on the serpent so based on that alone being the most colorful plus my love of pink in general, that seems the best choice. I don't wear yellow often and don't own nor would I be likely to buy a yellow bag so I also like the idea that it might look nice with a yellow dress too (or lavender or mauve). But I keep going back to how rich the white or the green would look with a black and/or white ensemble and can't stop looking. I want all of them! LOL

Given your experience with this brand, any opinions you would like to share? Of course, opinions of others welcome too:smile:

ETA:
Here is another one I found in light pink which would normally be my go to. I find this one beautiful but I have so many light pink bags, I really think I should go for something different. But wow, I LOVE this one too and it would still be unique to my other pink bags!

I am wondering since I don't know much about these bags - are any of these styles known to be counterfit?

My vote is white with fuschia. Or the pale pink bag.

Anything can be counterfeited so I would be careful. I've handled bags like the last three. I love the look and feel they are emblematic of the brand. For me, personally, I wasn't impressed with the leather. They are structured and rather stiff. If that doesn't bother you, they are beautiful bags.

I can see what you mean about them feeling (and appearing) stiff. I don't think that would bother me bc they are soooo pretty and this wouldn't be an everyday bag. I am probably going to have to pick something up on the resale market so with the risk of counterfit, I think my best bet is buy from Japan (I know they have strict counterfit laws) or maybe Europe - not sure if this mentality is correct, but I don't think "dupes" are as popular over there as the US.

I love the cream cabochon but mine did peel inside the flap . I actually love the black and white snake head it looks very dramatic; mine has mother of pearl so it has a nice sheen contrasted with the Matt black.
The diamond blast is stunning too.
I agree about the other leathers being stiff and not liking them really.

Thank you for sharing your experience with that bag as I am definitely leaning towards this bag and/or the light pink. I really like the overall look of the leather and matelasse style on this bag and I could use a small white dressier bag as that is one gap in my collection. I think the black/white/gold is sharp and would look great with many looks. I love black and white and actually have a few black and white handbags but I would consider this one white with a decorative flair (others are either more casual or larger). Hadn't questioned the quality though

ETA: As for the diamond blast, I found another one online in a color I love more than the white/fuschia but it's also alot more pricey. This one is going on wish list for sure!
