does QVC's bigger stoned items look faker than the smaller ones?? Like how other CZ's are?
I have seen and even owned quite a few pieces of Diamonique from QVC. I *believe* that QVC has a lifetime guarantee on their Diamonique line. I once had a sterling and DMQ ring from QVC that had a problem with the metal (not even the stones!), and QVC didn't carry the ring anymore. Their CS people gave me a reference # and I sent the ring to them, and they gave me my choice of a merchandise credit to use at QVC or a full refund to my CC that I used to pay for the original piece. Their CS reps really are excellent.
If you're curious about Diamonique, order one! As a previous poster stated, Tacori now has a Diamonique line with QVC - I haven't seen them IRL, but they look great on TV! QVC's returns are very easy & they don't ask any questions. Order it, wear it, try it out, and if you don't love it, return it! Their returns are refunded within 2 or 3 days of them getting the item back. You don't even have to call them - just send it back!
In terms of believability, IMO, the smaller stones are better. They sparkle like crazy! Many of the tell-tale signs of a CZ are not as apparent in smaller stones as they are in larger stones. CZs often are *too* clear, without any body or depth to the stone. They quite simply look like pieces of glass. CZs also often have thicker facets because they can't be cut as sharply as a natural diamond. They will often look a lot less "real" under fluorescent or blacklight, and sometimes CZs aren't as lustrous on cloudy days as they are in the sun. In a larger stone (1ct +) you can often tell that these properties are there, and an experienced diamond eye can tell the difference between a diamond and a CZ. But in a .10 stone or even a .5 stone, most people wouldn't be able to tell the difference without a loupe or a diamond tester.
QVC's stones, however, are much more realistic than most CZs you would buy off a rack of earrings in the mall. IMO, this is true in any size stone. Sometimes its important to have natural diamonds. But when you just love pretty sparkly stuff regardless of its origin, Diamoniques from QVC are a great way to go! You do have to keep them clean - but that's true with any diamond or CZ. Just a short bath in gem cleaner every few days works wonders.
Personally, I wouldn't hesitate to buy an eternity band or earrings or a necklace with small DMQ stones from QVC. And the ones I own I do wear together with my natural diamonds. Sometimes I have to think for a second about which ones are "real" and which aren't. I probably wouldn't buy a solitaire to try to pass off as a diamond, but as uneducated as many people are about diamonds, you could probably get away with it.
