I was talking to one of my girlfriends about handbags, and she mentions that she considers entry level purses as labels like Coach, Marc by Marc, Tory Burch, Juicy Couture. What labels do you consider entry level for a handbag collector who is beginning to branch off into designer?

Dooney & Bourke, and Coach are entry level to the world of designer handbags. They're usually the first "designer" bag a young person gets as a gift or purchases for themselves.

Any brands on the sales floor (not counter) could be entry level too. I see Michael Kors, Cole Haan.

What about the sales floor inside Neimans? They have CL, Fendi, Gucci, Tods, etc on the floor.

I guess you meant inside Dillards/macys.. the 'lower end' department stores?

Nordstroms even has Versace/Burberry on the sale floors. As well as Barneys with Balenciagas. ^^

I really dont think there is a set "entry level" some people consider Coach really expensive (I do even though I also buy LV) and some people dont think its expensive at all. I think its whatever you start with..could be anything even a no brand name bag.

I think it depends on the person and the area that they live in.
That being said, I would consider Coach and Dooney & Bourke (both of which I've owned and loved at the time) "entry level" - and I definitely don't consider the term to be a bad thing, my Coachs and D&Bs were well-loved and got me more interested in higher end bags.

i consider louis vuitton and gucci entry level.

Gotta love you! :D

Kidding aside OP, I would go with what the majority here is telling you! It is true though, and one should keep in mind, that everyone's entry level is different. For the majority of people, it's the first floor handbags and for some others it's anything under an Hermes Birkin! :smile1:

Well I consider 'entry level' to be whatever bag got you hooked on bags to begin with!

I agree with this comment. The first bag that got me hooked was a leather kelly green Nautica bag that I bought in T.J. Max with my first paycheck at 17 lol. I felt like I belonged on a yacht on the East Coast with tall handsome man named Drew or something. I don't know why I thought that.

But anyway looks like the majority is Coach and D&B which is pretty much price range in Designer bags. Although I can defientely appreciate and admire other higher end bags.

Whatever floats your boat !
