What is a bag you obsessed over, but ultimately did not buy (and why)?

I’m sure I’m not alone in having obsessed over a bag, only to hold off from buying it just long enough for the lust to fade (and be glad I resisted).

Recently, for me, these include:

1) Polene Numero Un (in the blue croc) and the Un mini. The Un would certainly be too big for me (I prefer small bags), and I don’t like the chain strap or hardware of the mini (also I find the proportions of the flap to be a bit long or something)

2) Loewe mini gate bag: oh man, I LOVE how this looks, but it is not functional enough for me. My phone would stick out the corners, and the strap is not adjustable (srsly??? At this price point??)

3) Senreve maestro (one of the smaller sizes): I realized I much rather prefer the look of a Celine Nano Belt (despite being 3x the price)!

Interested to hear about your almost-purchased bags!

OMG SO MANY! M Bayswater, LV Neverfull, Chloé Marcie, Céline Luggage just to name a few.

I used to buy everything I wanted and everything that was on sale. When I realized I was moving into a ridiculously high price range and wanted every bag that ever crossed my mind, I had to think of things again. Now I only buy after a very long intense research on the bag, the brand, downsides and problems and prices.
And guess what? None of my super expensive bag wants made it into my closet except M Alexa. I actually found myself thinking of buying an Alexa 10 yrs ago, told myself it wasn't a smart buy and got off the idea for 7 years. After I fell for Alexa the second time I knew this was it, got myself one and what great success! Alexa's one of my favorites if not my nr. 1 favorite and it was a bargain!

Launer Juliet. Would love to SO one in traffic red/sienna brown/buttermilk - but I won't make it in time before Brexit to custom order AND collect it in person. Dang, and I'd dreamed of having it for my 50th birthday in May... oh well.

I've said this before, so pardon me for those who have read my thoughts already, but for me it's the Gucci Dionysus (I know chain straps would be a deal breaker) and the Givenchy Antigona (beautiful, but the bag shape is too simple for me to justify the price).

I also really love tons of logo bags, but I know that I would be too shy to wear a logo bag, so I've refrained from many of those that I still love, like the LV nano Speedy and the Dior book tote.

Bottega Veneta Olimpia. The only things I didn't like were the corners of the flap so I never took the plunge. I also hesitated because of the no return policy and the bad resale value of the brand. Then recently I've read threads where people say the corners of the flap are turning up so I'm glad I didn't.

I was lusting over the LV Montorguiel GM for a long period of time. But when I got to try it in store, the straps were too short for my preference so I wasn't able to grab it. Luckily, it's a minus one for my wishlist!

YSL toy lou lou in velvet - I wanted this so bad and actually purchased and returned, even though I love it so much. It's even still in my cart on Saks. But the problem is that I have too many mini bags and I'm afraid of the wear on the velvet. But still, it is so pretty.
Fendi baguette re-release - when the first pictures came out, I was totally in love and was ready to pre-order, but I held off and I'm glad. I still like it and would love to have one, but at around 3K CAD, it's a bit much.
Anyways, I enjoyed reading everyone else's responses!

Celine belt bag, Givenchy Antigona.. cos I realise that I like a little more slouch..
Gucci Marmont flap and Disco.. just have a feeling that I wont love them for very long..
Chanel Boy bag.. too expensive for a bag that I dont see growing old with me..

The Gucci Dionysus has caught my eye many times, I’ve poured over them online, added them to my cart, tried them on in the store...but I don’t want any more chain bags, especially not the heavy, twisty, get-caught-in-the-hardware chain of the Dionysis. I already have many Chanel chain bags, which are also more functional. The Dionysus is thick and heavy and hard and doesn’t hold much for its size. I need to be on a ban anyway after the way I started this year.

Also, have never bought the LV Neverfull. I have a LV Mahina Hina MM that does the same thing, but is “different” and beautiful. I have the beige because that’s what I could get my hands on, but I really want one in Galet!6497E9C7-C265-4913-B995-AFE158F4E1D6.jpeg8802F125-E6F4-48E7-91BE-09C2C96E7935.jpegFC848200-918A-472F-B6C4-67C412E76BBC.jpeg3C089B5B-B003-4FB4-B0F0-A7249B0EDCBB.jpeg

Celine Belt Bag. As much as I love it and how it looks on others, I find it a bit heavy and despise the opening.

The Chloe Tess. Very cute but doesn’t hold much.

I have come to realize that I am not the cool girl Chloe or the chic minimalist Celine.
