What HOT Handbags do you hate?

One bag that I just can't even see myself trying on is.... the MJ Stam. I have *plenty* of love for MJ bags, owning a few myself.. but this bag just doesn't catch my attention at all. I kind of think it looks like a grandmother's coin purse on steroids. I saw one IRL and it just looked a little off to me. I don't hate it, I just think it's an odd concept for a bag.

i don't like the fendi spy, in dark colors like black and brown. the fendi buckle bag doesn't nothing for me either. the balenciaga took a while to grow on me, but now i love it. i don't like the edith. LV took a while to grow on me too. i don't like all of it, just a few select pieces here and there. i'm sure one day i'll like hermes. but not yet.

I have always disliked the LV multicolore and denim. No exceptions there.

I have grown to dislike all models of LV monogram canvas (perforated included, goes without saying).

Although I liked a lot the shape of the Balenciaga Motorcycle bags, I used to dislike the Balenciaga distressed leather (the looks of the leather, not the touch), but I grew to like it eventually.... :smile1:

I'm not really a fan of the spys...Mainly because they're so big.

But...I did see one in Saks that was absolutely beautiful. It was a deep red velvet with embroidered flowers on it. Very classy, IMO :)

I felt the same way until I got one in my hands at Sam's Club. It was too big and too trendy, but it was beautifully made. If I had money to burn, and I wouldn't mind putting it in the back of the closet a year or two from now, I'd probably get one for the sheer heck of it.

I used to not like the Fendi spy at all - but then I saw a beautiful green one on the arm of a model in soho last week - I have to say it looked pretty good on her - but maybe that's just because she was carrying it!

I'm also not that into monograms (at least for now).

I don't think you're hard to please at all. You just don't like being manipulated and probably don't want to spend big bucks on something that won't last. I'm the same way!

I'm disgusted by the tactics handbag companies are using, and they're working so well because we don't know how to "consume" in an intelligent manner.

Ditto on the heavy hardware. I picked up an MJ wallet the other day, and my first thought was that I had PURSES that weighed less than that thing.

i can't say i hate any, that's too strong of an emotion. but the paddinton, the muse... the b bag has comic charm but doesn't appeal to me personally, spy, any of marc jacobs' 80 pound bags (the leather is nothing special and then the hardware turns it into an anchor), anything too small (like the fendi baguette)... and most importantly, any bag that is clearly a flash in the pan, one that in a year or 2 you will look at and think, "this is so last year." the media really targets us hard as consumers and it's frustrating when lust is engineered instead of truly earned. jeez, i'm hard to please.

Hate is too strong of a word since we're talking about something as fluffy as handbags, but I don't give a darn about bags that are overpriced because the company is trying to milk the most out of what could be a long-term customer base (BV, Chanel, Gucci, Kooba, Chloe, Balenciaga...etc.). Given the price increase that goes into effect in a couple of days, LV will probably be added to that list.

Anything super trendy doesn't tempt me. If I liked that kind of thing, I'd shop at T.J. Maxx, Marshall's and Ross to pick up the latest thing and skip the costly handbags entirely. High cost and trendy seems weird to me.

Correction: There's one bag whose price and attraction mystifies me, and it's the Chloe Edith. That bag is SO simple in every way possible, and there's no reason on this earth that it should cost what it does. Chloe or not, the price makes the Paddington look like a bargain in comparison.

The Fendi Spy, I don't get the appeal, and when you don't get that, it's striking how much a bag is getting 'hyped', and how good they can rip you off:rolleyes: I don't like the shape, the flap and this long cord-like piece in front of that bag...For me it has nothing special and has just a very weird shape. Also the embroidered variations they do are just :yucky: They always remind me of some footballers wife wearing $1000 embroidered jeans and a status bag...now they have 2 in 1, they can spend the $1000 extra on the bag because these are just waaay overpriced!

Ammie, its the Edith's simplicity and supple leather that makes it so yummy for me! There are many leather variations for each Edith so sometimes if you see one it's not always the best representation. My Edith (photo attached) has the most gorgeous leather to me (pebbly, scrumply and vintage delish). Its simplicity is what attracts me... However I know its not for everyone.

Speaking of not for everyone, the Spy bag just isn't for me. I can see how it might appeal to some people but for some reason it doesn't make me do a double take. Perhaps it is because I'm biased against Fendi bags in general? :oh:

Also (and I used to be a huge LV fan) I no longer get the "oh my goodness feeling" about LV monogram bags. The LV's on the monogram have that "look at me" motto and the brand is probably the highest replicated model in the counterfeit world. But LV's epi leather is TDF.

It's not the simplicity that bothers me as much as the price tag given said simplicity. Even if you discount a high markup because it's Chloe, and it's the last bag that particular designer had anything to do with, it's really difficult to justify the $$ because it just doesn't have the detailing that tends to add on to the price.

LV bags are pretty simplistic in their design as well and their prices are steadily increasing every year. I owned a Petit Noe, pochette and large bucket and those, aside from the canvas, have been basic. And the leather wasn't anything to write home about. I don't need a lot of bells, tassles, colors and whistles to attract my eye. But like the underlining theme, "different strokes for different folks!"
