What have you learned through your handbag addiction?

I learmed that:
1. You pay for quality
2. And you will never stop...there will always be another bag you like right around the corner

I've learned:
1. Don't take the tags off until you're sure you'll love it.
2. If you're unsure about it when you buy it, you should probably just return it because it will never be the same as your "I loved it the moment I saw it" bag.
3. Promo codes are awesome...but only it's 25% or more.
4. Leather is worth the premium.
5. Never buy a bag on credit unless you know the thing will be paid off in 10 days or less.
6. Don't tell DH how much they cost. EVER.
7. TPF'ers are awesome!

I've learned that I am very fickle about bags - I fall for a one I just have to have, spend a fortune and then 2 months later, the romance is fading - and if I decide to sell, I don't get a fair price, so it just sits in my closet - My current heartthrob is a Jimmy Choo and I am waitng patiently for the sales -
Ive learned that my handbag addiction is just a part of my love of collecting fine and unique things. I consider my handbags collectables and collect the ones I truly love.
i've learned that with all the bags that i've purchased, i could have already bought another car.. and that high quality designer bags feel wonderful on me

I've learned to set limits and stick to them. One bag per season is do-able. And I've also learned that I don't like heavy bags (I might have to sell my stam even though it's beautiful.. I just don't carry it enough) and that I have expensive taste!! and my bf is amazingly understanding about that

I love this - especially #4. One person's $200 bag can be equivalent to someone else's $10,000 bag when you consider that the "cost" is relative to what each different person's personal circumstances can accommodate. I recently sold several rather high-end bags that I'd purchased over the last year because (a) I had too many to feel good about owning them and (b) I thought, you know, I really don't have the house, car, travel account, etc. that goes with these bags, so what am I really trying to say by wearing them? Now I'm focusing on what I like no matter the brand (though I still insist on good quality and longevity), and what is a better reflection of who I am and where I am in life.
I don't know if I really learned much except that I also prefer shoulder style bags but I always have. I'm a very fast walker and I find it frees me with or without the kids. Since I joined TPF I have become a bit more obsessive in that my wanting has increased more and perhaps the price tag of the bags I like are hundreds more.
I kinda like peoples theories about spending cash on a bag instead of charging it. That's food for thought for me. I only did that once. There are pluses and minuses in that if you are doubtful after you make your purchase, the merchant usually makes it more difficult to return the bag.
One thing that has remained the same is I obsess over the bag for a long time before I buy it. It's never an "it" bag but almost always a classic. After a while I either have to have it and purchase it or I just go on to the next one.
In any case, I am thrilled to learn I am not the only bagaholic!!!!
