Any kind of generalization is wrong imho, I don't think like that. I don't see the 5 years anniversary as more special than 4 or 6, kwim?

Every little thing matters in a relationship, every year every day of one's marriage is special and worth celebrating.

As I said it was in our minds from the beginning. My new e ring was supposed to be ready for my 30th birthday but I had it ready a few months earlier because of our circumstances. I was very sad because my dog died so DH gave me the diamond and told me to go and have it set asap in his attempt to make me feel better. I needed a project so designing my new ring was something to do before I went crazy from sadness.

I kind of inadvertently upgraded a few months before my 5th. But we had planned for our 10th to do it. After the hell we went through to find the stone we have now after the robbery, then the frustration of waiting 6 months for a reset....I am going to wait a LONG time. Ill wait til like 20 years or something now. lol Or 25. We'll see. If we come into serious cash, maybe I will buy a whole new ring or something in a different cut. :laugh:

My sister and her DH are actually already discussing afterb eing married a year. She's had issues with her ring being damaged (she managed to mangle it doing sometihng stupid!) and since they're resetting he might just do it then. He had a big raise and promotion a few months back and she just announced they're going to have a baby this year so it's a good time I think. They had planned to wait til 10 years but now will work.

I told my husband to start saving for my 40th birthday. Thats when i want my upgrade. I'm 34 right now. I want a 4 or 5 carat so my 40th birthday justifies it in my opinion, hehe. I have a 1.5 now. Can't wait :)
