What do you think about men wearing heels?

What do you think about guys wearing heels?

  • I love the look!

  • I hate the look!

  • I think people should rock whatever they want!

  • I hope this doesn't catch on, I don't want my bf stealing my Manolos.

  • It looks OK on some guys, but not everyone can pull it off.

I agree with spaceyjacy, MJ looks amazing in those heels, he's got the suit going on, the bright hair, the make up, it's a total "f*ck-off" look. I love it. The guy in jeans, a t-shirt and high heels, looks quite odd.

Eddie Izzard looks spectacular in heels as well : )

I wish you well,

Bridget

I think it should be clarified that the kind of man that would want to wear heels is typically not going to want to attract any women. In that right, I have never understood Prince because he seems totally gay (not attractive at all, IMO) yet he isn't.

^^
You'd be surprised, there seem to be a lot of straight guys on the internet who like to wear heels in public. I went on one forum and there was a poll and about 80% said they were straight, many were married too, that's why I wanted to hear what the TPF ladies thought about it :D

Hahaha... I say... If you want to, go for it. But I can imagine some girls with men in their life who are already over 6 feet tall towering over them even more than ever, and I don't think they'd like it. Maybe some platform workboots or something for the shorter guys. Aside from that, I think realistically the gay population are the only people I can see pulling this off.

I agree with the OP, Prince can rock a heel (and me) any day, any time, any where, any way. You have to have the confidence and the whole vibe for a straight guy to wear heels. I can see David Bowie, Dave Navaro in heels and it be sorta sexy.

I think Santino from Project Runway (Season 2) was such a diva in his heels.

I say they can do whatever they want. As women, we have so many great fashion options that men just don't have. They should be able to experiment if the want to. Plus if you are a cowboy or a member of KISS, then you will look totally fab.

My DH response to this was "Straight men already wear heels, they're called cowboy boots".

I'm all for live & let live, but my take is that most men can't pull off ladies heels. There are such strong associations between high footwear and femininity, it is hard to make that mental cross over gender lines. We have strong gender taboos on masculine/feminine that we are raised with, heels are just one example - and so, for most of us, it simply looks 'wrong'. Like anything else, there will be some men who can pull off a whole 'look', but most average men won't be interested or able to pull it off.

Though I do have to agree with a previous post that Prince always rocked the look - androgyny seems to help a guy 'work it'. And did anyone else notice that Ricky on last season's Project Runway seemed totally comfortable when he donned a pair of heels during the weight-loss challenge? I love my heels, but I think that kid could totally smoke me in a heels race.
