I brush it off mostly as every brand has a group of haters, even the high end brands. I know which thread you are referring to and I stopped reading/replying because I don't have time for so much negativity.

I would rather spend my time discussing what I like with others who like the same thing so I keep to this forum for posting about MK and ignore MK threads in other brand's forums!
That particular thread was closed today by the moderators due to complaints from members within that forum, myself included.

I'm comfortable enough in my own skin to wear my purses because I love them and wear them for myself, not because they will magically elevate my "status" due to a price tag and designer name. While most of my collection is LV (grew up with them as my mom is a huge collector and I love the history), I have a few MK bags have their forever-home with me and are used and loved no less just because the brand is counterfeited or over-saturated.
As for accusations regarding MK "copying" other designers; it's true to an extent and almost all designers have a long history of doing it in order to create appeal to their target/focus customers. I have no qualms with this practice so long as the "inspired" bag has it's own unique twist and improvements, such as the Grayson having both more pockets and a wider opening then LV's Speedy. The only trashy "brand" IMHO is anything fake, as are the people who knowingly carry them.

I love MK, something about the style of the bags just appeals to me more than the other (affordable) designers; I think it is just that glam edge to most of the styles, for example MK has gold, whereas coach would be brass -most of the time.
Anyhow I can see how other high-end purse snobs would hate on the brand, and that is what disturbs me the most and makes me hope I don't one day regret this collection I have built of MK bags. I see it this way, due to the recent popularity of MK bags, counterfeit bags have just EXPLODED. I can see why the haters would not want to be associated with that particular group of people who carry around the fakes. Lets be honest, they are trashy people. I see them on a daily basis where I live, and I think to myself "you can't possibly expect me to believe that is a real bag". The problem is half of them are so ignorant they probably do believe it is in fact real and they got a superb deal!
I love love the bags, but lets face it, if the MK brand falls I fully believe it would be because of over-saturation -Due to fakes!
-Proud ebay fake reporter.
Still haven't gotten the nerve to go up to a stranger and tell them they are carrying a fake though LOL
I have to respond to you about this. Michael Kors is just the LATEST of having heavily produced fakes. My God! Coach was suffering this for years WAY before MK had to go thru it. ALL of the designers are faked! We have authenticators in every designer subforum here, and there's a reason for that! These aithenticators will all tell you how badly faked their brands are. The fakes really have nothing to do with the hatred towards MK. Also, counterfeiters duplicate what is most popular at the time. Just so happens, it's Michael Kors turn now, but I assure you, EVERY single designer is victim to being counterfeited. So please don't think this has anything to do with it. Do you know how many people are running around wearing fake Louis Viutton?? Probably more than Michael Kors! So please don't let that be ANY basis for your decisions about collectiong MK bags. MK is by far, not the only designer being counterfeited

Where the hatred is coming from is from hateful, jealous, spoiled people that have nothing else to worry about! lol! Seriously! That's IT! That ALL!! I pay no nevermind to fools that waste their time on hating anything! And I certainly don't let those foolish people decide what I am going to like or not.

Michael Kors puts out and excellent product and THAT is why he's so popular! Everyone who owns and carries his bags knows EXACTLY what I say is true. He is a fabulous designer with plenty of his own designs. and all the whiners are just plain fools that have no clue!

Yes that is true, but right now at this point in time I think there are many more fake MK bags out on the Market. I remember probably 10 years ago now it was Chanel in my area that I would see constant fakes. I see way more fake MK bags than anything else at the moment.:mad: (seriously bad fakes)
But that is only because MK is most popular right now. Ten years ago everyone was wearing fake Coach. And before that , it was Louis Vuitton. And they are STILL wearing fakes of these brands. I just don't think you notice it as much, because you are into MK so you are spotting all the fake MKs, of course. .. All designers are faked. This has nothing to do with the hatred towards the product.

WILL EVERYONE PLEASE QUIT SAYING MICHAEL KORS IS NOT A HIGH END DESIGNER????

It's NOT TRUE!! He has plenty of bags that range from 2000.00 to 12,000.00 and even more! Does anybody look at the website in the MICHAEL Kors Collection???? He has two collections. MICHAEL Kors, and MICHAEL by Michael Kors.

The JULIE NILE CROC is $9,100.00!! MADE of GENUINE NILE CROCODILE!! If that isn't luxury , I don't know what else you would call it?? Many movie stars and high fashion Models wear Michael Kors. We even have a whole thread for it.

I'm glad I didn't see that thread! lol! This biker mama, would go BIKER bonkers on them! lol! :boxing::

What I was trying to say was just my opinion of why I think MK gets so much hate from what I observe in my area. I KNOW other brands are heavily faked as well.... I know the popularity of such fakes shifts by neighborhood.

I think people are discussing the bulk of Michael Kors' business which is affordable bags - let's say $200 to $600. The money maker is obviously Michael by Michael Kors and that's what 99% of people buy. Do you often see 2K bag reveals on the MK TPF thread?

I don't know why you take this so personally. It's kinda weird. 😳

So I bought my niece MK shoes (for her birthday) and a Campbell bag (the bag was just last week). She picked up the bag and loves it. I paid and I was happy to see her happy. Isn't that all that matters? She is young and that's her first steps into fashion. MK is very popular with her age group. I wouldn't pick MK for me - but I really don't think the brand even tries to cater to me.

Like every big trend, MK bags will fade in popularity and something else will become the next hot thing. It's easy for me to see that because I work on a major college campus: I see what's trendy and what isn't year after year. Just ten years ago Coach was everywhere. Today you rarely see a Coach bag on our campus. But MK bags on the other hand (no pun intended) are extremely present.

I think many people use MK as a catalyst for their frustration which is really geared toward the affordable luxury market. This market is a fairly new phenomenon and it reflects deep changes in consumer behaviors. MK is just the scapegoat because it's the most popular at the moment.

I definitely agree with that last paragraph. It used to be Coach was the scapegoat and now it is MK.

Oh there you are! I was wondering when you'd 'pop up' ! lol!

Actually, we have a whole thread for the Miranda, which ranges between 1000.00 and 3000.00. Depending if you get the real python or genuine Crocodile. We also have a Movie Star Thread, and we have a thread for the 'MICHAEL Collection', not that you would even be familiar with it. Yes, most of the rich and famous are cruising on their yachts or flying to Paris in their Michael Kors bags right now and don't belong to the TPF. How many movie stars hang out in you LV thread??? . They are not on the TPF . SURPRISE!!! lol! Also, that is not the entire BULK of Ks business. There is a whole underground market designed exclusively for the rich and famous that isn't even publicised! cdd
Here is a shot of Alessandra Ambrosio at the airpost ( also not on the tpf! lol!) ) with TWO MK's and the more visible one on the left is the Miranda which is a 2000.00 tote. Many of the ladies here on the TPF own Mirandas, or bags from the MICHAEL Collection..
Michael Kors does have a luxury line, but he also has an affordable line for everyone in Michael by Michael Kors Collection. If that makes him bad, then keep stoning him, he's crying all the way to the bank! lol! I don't take it personally, I just get tired of everyone saying he does not have a luxury line, when indeed, he DOES! Just need to get our FACTS straight here.

I was chatting to my brother last weekend on the subject of included diamonds (he's a jeweller)... Bare with, its relevant... His verdict, "there are plenty of things that are more important in life than a tiny spec of carbon in your diamond! Especially if said diamond brings you huge amounts of pleasure".

Maybe the same holds true for handbags?

Personally MK bags, and this forum with you ladies, is an absolute pleasure. I'd rather drop 10K a year on travelling rather than crazy price bags!

+1  Me too! lol! I also like having dozens of colors to match my outfits. I'd rather spend thousands on a whole bunch of nice bags, to match all my outfits, than just one overly expensive bag. I don't really care for the bags in many other luxury brands. In particularly , signature bags. I never needed anyone's initials on me, not even my own! lol! I also think signature bags are a bit pretentious. Also, they are advertisements for the thieves! I sell designer bags on ebay and have had several poor ladies trying to replace their collections that were stolen! I did ask them if they were wearing signature bags, and they all replied YES! .Often these thieves will see someone carrying a signature bag and follow them home! Scarey! No thanks, I'll stick to my leather bags. Much less obvious and I could care less about impressing anyone by wearing their initials all over me. Unless the designer would PAY me to be a walking advertisement! lol ! Maybe then ~

And yes, the ladies in this forum are so sweet and gracious. Never an unkind word. We do have so much fun here!

He raises a good point and the last lines, i completely agree on. I like gathering together and sharing our love of bags... whether that be his contemporary line or his premier i'm happy to see all kinds.
