kate i love all your rehabs, but this one is truly amazing! i don't have enough words for how much i admire how much work you put into refurbishing these bags!

I can hardly believe the difference...your rehab was uber successful.

Congrats on another great rehab project Katev. The after photos look amazing:smile1:

Thank you, I enjoy doing the rehabs but I really wanted this one to come out nicely since I was doing it for my husband. He is a great guy and very tolerant of my purse obsession. I'm glad that he really liked it. He told me that if he messes it up he "knows somebody that can fix it up again!"

Kate it looks amazing!!! I'm so excited that your husband loves it!! You did such a wonderful job on this guy. Did you use blackrocks as your conditioner?!

Thanks!

While it was still drying (and it took a long time to dry!) I gave it a couple of coats of Apple conditioner. I have quite a stockpile of Apple and it is good stuff so I use it often. But after it was dry I used the blackrocks to cover the scuffs and scraps and wear and even out the color and bring back the luster!

awesome!! I have both apple and blackrocks and you are actually the one that inspired me to use blackrocks in the first place and I think it is one of my favorites to use!!! It really evens out and softens the look of the leather. It almost has a waxy feel to it when you apply it but its wonderful!!

Blackrocks is great stuff! I had a hard time working with it at first, I was too heavy-handed but when I learned to use light applications and immediately wipe off the excess then it worked much better for me.

Blackrocks is great to rehab a beat-up bag but probably shouldn't be used regularly for bags in good shape. It contains (canuba?) wax and I've been told that the wax that can build up with repeated use, but I think the wax heals and repairs these poor neglected old bags. It really evens out the color and brings back the shine!

Omg you dog darn did it again!!!! That is more than a rehab. That's reincarnation.

I must ask-- what did you do to restore the rich deep color of the dye? I have a beeckman that I adore. Do you use leather dye or what product?

Your reveals are by far the most impressive and enjoyable. I am in constant awe of your talent at rehabs. It's a gift!

Hope Dh loves this for years to come. It's gorgeous!!!!!!

Thanks! Usually just washing it and then putting on conditioner helps brings back a lot of the color. I find that Black Rock Leather N Rich conditioner is great for covering the scuffs and scraps, and it helps hide the flaws and even out the coloration. (I buy blackrocks at a local tack shop.)

I didn't use any dye. There was a long, thin light-colored strip of damage on the back of the bag. I don't know if it was caused by wear or what, but I lightly applied a few dabs of matching acrylic paint in that area and then blended it in with my fingers. I sometimes use acrylic paint to touch up lost edging on straps too.

Oh my gosh, Kate, I love love love what you've done with this! It looks beautiful. I'd probably carry that myself! It's fantastic.

I swear, one of these days I'm going to find an old gem like that, and I'll be pm'ing you for advice! ;)
