What did you buy to get a birkin/Kelly

I didn’t do anything extra. My first Kelly and Birkin were on display in the store. No amount of planning can substitute for pure luck.
Same here. I got a black box k 28 as my first Hermes bag. In fact it was my first ever purchase from Hermes. My second purchase from Hermes was a B 30 in cafe Clemence. The bags were on display and available to walk in clients with no prior history with the store and no other purchases necessary. But this was awhile ago.

This was a while back and probably not this easy now. I got my first Kelly (Havanne 32) as a walk in Madrid at Christmas. My first Birkin (Gold 30) at FSH in summer and the second (Etoupe 30) straight out of clingfilm from Brussels in September. I was really fortunate as each time, I did not buy anything prior. I had not discovered the rest of the Hermes 'universe' then.

Cheers!
My first purchase was a Dogon wallet, my second a HAC, my third a Birkin. All over a time of six, seven years.
My SA gave me private messages and phone calls literally from day one on. I just don’t get this „you have to have a relationship to your SA and a history with the brand!“-stuff.
They sell, I buy - that’s the whole story.

Cheers!

Very interesting experience. Curious to know how long ago you were offered your birkin and if you’ve bought anything since then and what country? I know experiences vary but in the US for the most part you do need a relationship with an SA. It’s not so simple as walking into a store and just asking for a bag. If it were that simple the rest of us here would be doing just that every single time. :)

Cheers!

Sounds like you have a relationship with your SA (“private messages and phone calls”) and a history with the brand (“over a time of six, seven years”).

Memorial weekend ‘18 I bought a Halzan mini and ver casually asked about Birkin. My SA emailed an offer for a Kelly 1 week later (which she wasn’t sure I was interested since I hadn’t mention it)) Honestly when I asked about the Birkin I expected the standard none available. Then got a Constance and a SO. I don’t understand the H way at all. Recently I have purchased a lot but in the beginning it was just the Halzan...

Many people have posted that fine jewelry is a good way to get offered a bag. Some have even stated that they planned to buy a bracelet that they didn't love in order to try for a bag. H's fine jewelry is expensive IMO, so only buy it if you love it. I got many bag offers without buying jewelry, but I do buy across the store (and started buying jewelry only recently).
Hello! What did you buy in the store before they offered you the bag?

Cheers!

Buying an HAC is a good way to get a quota bag....this is not an unusual purchase history. HACs are pricey and not all that popular so SAs are happy to sell them.

I am in Toronto and I had to buy basically 1:1 ratio before I was offered a Kelly. I did buy items across many categories but I focused mainly on fine jewelry. I've always wanted a B first and now I am trying to buy more things I like so that I can get offered one...I am running out of ideas on what to buy though...I guess I will take it slow...

Thank you for the reply.

I totally feel you on the running out of things to buy even though there are more quota or hard to get items I would want. I only want to buy what I love. I have satisfied a lot of “needs” and there are certain categories or products I will never purchase. I expect my buying will slow down — in part due to the lack of availability of non quota items I would purchase - and make me less desirable to my SA and may make me less desirable for quota bags but I am not going to buy things just to buy them.

I am at the point where I am running out of things to buy too. I also only buy what I love and after seeing my friends who had 3 skateboards on her wall as art, I am tempted to buy those Hermes ones. LoL. They are like $3K a piece though.

I don’t know what else to buy. I have watch/fine jewelry, home goods, silk, SLG. I don’t like ready to wear and fashion jewelry, and I only like K or C as far as quota bags.

My plan is to slow down my purchases. I have made a wishlist and there aren’t many items on the list at the moment.

I didn't buy anything or have a purchase history. However, I am buying a Chain Verrou and a tea set on my next visit. Just be polite and build a relationship with your SA. Honestly that is what got me offered my bag. Oh also bringing snacks the staff can enjoy. My SA loves treats so I always bring cupcakes and donuts from the local bakery.
