What brand is comparable to Hermes quality?

Their leather was also sourced where hermes gets theirs
From some of the same tanneries but not the same leather nor quality. The products are also machine stitched, the linings while nice are made mostly of synthetics. The hardware is also not made to the same standard.

Nothing wrong with Roots but trying to say they are constructed to similar standards is incredibly disingenuous. This coming from someone who loves their Roots products. I was also terribly saddened by their American acquisition which led to outsourcing of so many of their products. (They sold off all of their manufacturing equipment for producing handmade shoes in house).

I spend a lot of time looking for high quality bags, no logos, and H like. Below are some of my favorites:
Joseph Duclos https://josephduclos.com/en-us
Also, I am looking at getting a bag made by https://www.atelierrenard.com in Paris.
And lastly Moynat and Loro Piana are both really well made. But I don't think either is at H level, very close, very close.

Moynat was very much on the same level and sometimes even a higher level than H. (At least under Ramesh)

They really pushed the envelope when it came to unique construction techniques/novel materials and incredibly detailed closure mechanisms. Also unlike H, all their bags used to be saddle stitched from start to finish.

I agree with you, but only when Ramish was in charge. I currently have 2 Ramish Moynat bags and they are comparable to my 2 H bags. I am not as sure of the quality under current Moynat management. But again, excellent quality all things considered.

I fully agree with you unfortunately. They have considerably revised their philosophy (now using multiple manufacturing facilities from LVMH across multiple countries).

I’ve had a couple of the Loro Piana globe bags and they were very nice (and heavy!). The construction was great and so was the leather but I could not put them next to H with regard to quality …. But they were definitely in close proximity! :-) There is just something about H bags that make them very special. I’ve owned so many different versions and leathers and ages (vintage to modern) and all they just exude luxury…. Even the oh-so—basic Picotin and the canvas HerBags. I seriously wish I had never ever purchased any H bags because they spoiled me and nothing seems to come close. :-( But that doesn’t mean I don’t enjoy other bags (LV all leather SC bags, Vachetta bags, Nomade bags, for example) — I just don’t find they feel as special as my H bags did.

Oh i did not know that. I just thought its the same I got a her bag and compared it with a roots bag I had and the leather part seem the same. I just like that their handmade. I have no idea if they are machine made now. Id got to see a birkin in real life first

I recently, about a month ago, got a Moynat Gaby PM in the taupe colour directly from the website and it is absolutely beautiful!! The leather is sturdy and soft and I can tell it is extremely well made
