Alright I’ll chime in here because I take my son about once a year to Disneyland. I have used a backpack the last few trips. Rag and Bone, Kate Spade, etc. I had no trouble with the water rides because I pack a fold up rain poncho and put my bag underneath it. My family and friends laugh at me but honestly I’m just fussy and I don’t want to get wet, bag or no bag. I’ve never had an issue. Not a drop.
My main issue with the backpacks was that I was constantly taking them off my shoulder and rummaging around and it drove me nuts so I won’t be using them for Disney anymore. However, I am unable to go bagless (cell phone, small makeup bag, rain poncho folds up in a ball, portable cellphone charger, hairbrush, wallet....at minimum. Maybe even a beanie for cool nights.) It’s a long day! I’ve decided on a shoulder bag or crossbody this time. In fact, I’ll likely bring one of each since I’m going for more time. I can switch off if I feel I need more/less.
i guess you can tell I’m not much of a minimalist. Did I mention I feel like you always need a bag with kids? There’s just always something...even with a tween.
I wouldn’t bring an expensive designer bag but personally the only time I carry canvas or nylon is in the summer at the beach or pool. I feel fine at Disney carrying a bag I like and no I wouldn’t buy a super cheap option unless you think it’ll pour. But even then- I suggest the rain poncho. That’s where you can go cheap on
amazon. After all, you don’t want your nylon bag soaked through either.
